For the Love of Eb

Warning: Spoilers
Like so many of us in the 1960's, Eb suddenly becomes smitten with Bettie Jo Bradley (Linda Kaye) the youngest of Kate Bradley's daughters. He's grown up with her but never looked at her as more than the baseball team's utility infielder...until now.

Eb goes to Mr. Douglas for advice on how to ask out Bettie Jo, which leads to a funny flashback in which Lisa remembers the first time Oliver asked her out (on board the cruise ship Titantic--not the one you think where he was playing guitar in the ship's band) and their first date at a fancy Manhattan nightclub (look for the gorgeous Joyce Nazzari as the cigarette girl! She was Playboy's December 1958 centerfold and played Mabel Slocum on "Beverly Hillbillies". Sadly, this is her last TV appearance).

Eb of course gets his instructions all confused so Mr. Douglas goes to the Shady Rest to straighten things out between Eb and Billie Jo. But when Bobbie Jo (Lori Saunders) overhears him talking to her sister she thinks Oliver is hitting on her.

This is a very interesting episode in combining the relatively "normal" humor of "Petticoat Junction" with the off the wall insanity that is "Green Acres". There is a great surreal dance sequence that begins with Oliver teaching Eb how to dance that dissolves into Eb imagining dancing with Bobbie Jo in various styles.

Bettie Jo looks great, though the Shady Rest looks like they didn't light it quite right in this crossover. It looks kind of dark. There is also a rare appearance by Lisa's dog who is usually only seen in the opening titles.
