Kalas is an intelligent and methodical evil immortal. Too many holes left open after Duncan "dies."

Warning: Spoilers
Mac and Anne go to a concert to see an old immortal friend, Paul, a monk who hasn't been off holy ground in 300 years. It turns out the concert was set up by an immortal, Kalas, unbeknownst to Paul. Kalas, Mac, and Paul know each other from the past. Kalas was a student of Paul's with a magnificent voice. The monastery was a sanctuary for immortals. Except that when an immortal left Kalas would surreptitiously follow them and kill them. Duncan outed Kalas for his evil acts and Paul banished him from the monastery. Now in present-day Kalas wants revenge, setting up people that are close to Duncan.

Why didn't Kalas sense Mac when he peeked into the door crease watching Kalas polish his sword? This is one of those things in Highlander that they play loosely with, the sensing of another immortal. Sometimes they can sense them from outside a building. Sometimes at the last minute when one is almost upon them. Kalas should have sensed Mac was there but he didn't.

Here we see this is when Duncan learns to read in 1658. Mac also takes notice of Kalas' skill at copying writing. Which is how he was able to prove Anne innocent. Good catch Duncan. I don't blame Anne for being angry about Duncan not explaining what is going on. I mean a good friend of hers and a patient died just because she's Mac's girlfriend.

Kalas has a nasty scar at his throat neck area. Apparently, Mac is responsible for it. Supposedly since a beheading is the only way to kill an immortal they can get scars there. But Cullen nicked Mac in the neck in 'Courage,' but didn't have any scars as Anne mentioned in later episodes.

I found it odd that Kalas went after Anne and Joe but left Mac's best friend, Richie, completely alone. Kalas seems more methodical and intelligent than the other evil immortals Mac has dealt with before.

So when Mac "died," Richie rushed Anne, an emergency room doctor out of there. So now Anne believes Duncan is dead. Did she call the police? Was there a funeral? Anne's co-workers must know she dated Duncan, so she must have told them right? It just seems like so many holes there at the end regarding Anne's perspective and all the proper things to be done when one dies, or from her point of view, was killed.

Duncan doesn't want to tell Anne the truth because he doesn't want her dragged into their world as he tells Richie. But she was already dragged into their world just by being his girlfriend. He couldn't handle another Tessa he tells Richie. Well then maybe he shouldn't have started a serious relationship with someone. At least make it hard for someone to find him by changing his name. But he goes to France using the same name. Like I said in another review, I think he has too much pride to change his name. Too much pride to try and hide where he is. This is the beginning of the Kalas arc. I gave it an 8/10.
