It starts with a promising if murkily photographed kidnapping, and takes a turn for the worse rather soonabout the time the first gypsy appears. When Honey and Sam start spying on a gypsy caravan, we are in trouble as Sam says, "You seen one gypsy, you seen 'em all." It isn't only offensive dialog, it's dumb.
The show reaches a low point when Honey disguises herself as a gypsy to infiltrate the caravan. This is where the episode leaves all semblance of credibility behind. Honey is so obviously not a gypsy behind that phony accent, that even the gypsies have to keep translating for her. (Of course, these gypsies are speaking Spanish; perhaps Honey's cover identity is supposed to be a Romany-speaker only, but there is no indication that Honey speaks Romany any more than she speaks Spanish.) Sam's sudden appearance disguised as an old prospector is actually more convincing than Honey's gypsy. This disguise is too short-lived, but it is the only reason why this episode gets a rating of three from me instead of two.
Szabo, the large, ridiculous thug who knocks Honey unconscious and later gets into a poorly choreographed fight with her, looks like an escapee from an Ali Baba movie. But there is a lower point yet to come when we meet what is obviously a man in a gorilla suit but is presented as a real gorilla. Honey and Sam each take turns fighting with the gorilla-man, neither very believably. If gorillas had their own movement they would picket this episode.
The episode ends with an exchange of gifts between Honey and Sam, which seems apropos of nothing, until I noted that the episode originally aired two weeks after Valentines Day. Possibly this episode was meant to be aired at an earlier date but was delayed for some reason.
