Disney's Recess of 2022

Warning: Spoilers
I totally adore Disney's Recess series throughout my early childhood and although it's Boxing Day still worth giving review of this Christmas special episode of the show.

Third Street School is planning pageant in upcoming Christmas season and Mikey is nominated as role of Santa yet Principal Prickly desperately using him again with Robert Goulet's singing voice as Santa (brings back scene with music teacher Miss Salamone).

Although Mikey is gone moody again when it was all the grown-ups and his parents lied to him over the existence of Santa. From watching this, I usually thought this is somewhat similar in Toy Story movie when Buzz Lightyear sees the television commercial and gets excruciating epiphany that he's a toy and not a real space ranger - as they say: truth hurts.

Bad off screen parenting

Warning: Spoilers
Mikey finds out his parents lied to him about the Reindeer Rider. His friends tell him they already knew HE was as a myth and Micky wasn't going to accept that answer, he then develops cognitive dissonance. Mikey being desperate not to be taken as a fool tried hard to prove the Reindeer Rider was real. His crew debunk him and Mikey tries even harder to prove that the Reindeer Rider is real so he takes his crew out to town to prove the Reindeer Rider is real. They stop by a radio station and Mikey is debunked. Mikey holds up a parade where the Reindeer Rider is present. Mikey is debunk again because it was the major playing cosplay dressed up as the Reindeer Rider. Mikey is depressed because his parents lied to him for all these years. Mikey goes through the grief cycle because he can't prove that the Reindeer Rider exist.

This episode is an example of how "belief", lies and fairy tales can ruin a child or a person's life. Episodes like these are toxic.

It tells you that Santa isn't real then turns around and indirectly states that he is real.

Which one is it?

Belief is dangerous because many people and children can't self regulate themselves and separate fiction from non fiction.

This episode is about Mikey finding out Santa isn't real. He goes around trying to disprove his belief.

By the end a guy with a Mufasa voice indirectly manipulates him into believing in Santa again.

They have a short little pagan show and it snows and the show ends.

For the singing it gets a 4. For a story it's a 1. I'm not okay with lying to anyone about fairytales or about the guy that rested for 3 days and woke up.

What can be learned? Don't lie to the children.

Verdict: this episode whomped.
