With a friend like Mister Kaufman, Pete Dixon sure doesn't need any enemies now does he? Kaufman is always giving him the rotton apples in the barrel and expecting him to play miracle worker. In this case the spoiled fruit is Dennis Joplin a habitual liar who makes Richard Nixon look like George Washington. He actually brags about a cruel prank he played on a hard of hearing teacher at his other school and also about an abused sister and an absentee father. He also claims to have been a champion basketball player and that he can get his classmates tickets to The Rollling Stones. Well a little detective work by Mister Kaufman reveals none of this is true and Pete gives him one of his trademark lectures pointing out that this kid is pathetic because all he wants is for his peers to like him. Fat chance of that.

Dennis is a problem student transferred to Walt Whitman High.
One of the best of Season 1. Former child actor Rick Kelman plays Dennis and he gives a great performance. It seems Dennis lies about everthing. He tells his classmates he can get them tickets to a sold out Rolling Stones concert, when it turns out to be a lie, the kids turn away from him. Pete finds out Dennis lies to get people to like him.
