Warning don't read unless seen episode.
This is one of my favorite episodes of the show, it's pretty much a mockumentary on the possibility that the Bayside gang would become rock stars, yeah it's obviously a dream but it's still fun all the same.
Really liked Casey Casem as the narrator, never thought I'd ever see him in this show but he fits well and the fact he's even doing this sort of makes it all the more funny. The way it's handled it almost feels plausible if the gang decided to continue on with music, you could say in a way this episode foreshadowed the TV show "Califoria Dreams".
The Bayside gang's career is pretty much playing out like the Bettles career where everything is alright as everyone is working together, but then of course there is that Yoko factor when we see Mindy a music executive come in whom is just a real b.... just completely self centered, acting like she owns the band. Despite how predictable this episode is we kinda care as we see things fall apart. Mindy we see is kinda twisting Zack's head a bit, sort of playing on his own desires for stardom and standing on his own. Which of coruse leads to a lot of disagreement and then fallout. From that point we're hoping somehow they'll all find a way back to each other, even if they can't get their music career back at least get their friendship back.
We then see each of them go there separate ways which are kinda odd which makes it all the more funny when we see Slater become an Evol Keneval like motorist. The oddest one for me is seeing Lisa become one of the American Gladiators, and almost kinda a bad ass when we here she not just beat the crap out of contestants and fellow Gladiators but also most of the audience; damn she really had anger issues.
Of course the highlight of this was seeing Zack's solo career which unfortunately doesn't go his way as he becomes something he doesn't want to be. I couldn't help but crack up when we see him in just this flamboyant attire and hairstyle, he literally looked like Vanilla Ice. At that point common sense kicks back in realizing despite the success he's gained it's meaningless because of it's artificial nature. But most importantly he realizes he has lost something more important than a music career and that is friendship. It's great when he does the right thing and what any good friend should do, by visiting Slater when he hears he's injured along with his friends; leaving behind a career that doesn't love him back and someone whom was never his friend.
One of the other highlights of the episode are the songs which are really solid, some of the cast turned out to be capable singers. The songs I wouldn't say are rock classics but their fun to listen to, catchy and of course have good messages.
Friendship carries the strongest tune.
