Stagecoach West like a lot of weekly westerns sometimes had to recycle stories. Here they managed to mesh several plotlines and come up with something different.

Liverpool Jack and his friend are two British sailors who have deserted when their ship landed in San Francisco. Only some men attacked them with his friend killed. Liverpool Jack managed to escape and had no idea why they were attacked.

Later Simon Kane offers Liverpool Jack and his bird a ride in his stagecoach which already has several passengers.. Only at the next stop, they are attacked by some Marshals who then give an explanation. Liverpool Jack might have the bubonic plague. The Marshals plan to kill all of them after being in contact with the sailor. They even go to the nearest town to get help for the task.

This is good news for Clyde Hardisty. He was sent to jail by the testimony of Frank Walker. The latter planning to escape with his family now that Clyde is out of jail.

Clyde meanwhile has a stroke of fortune. He wanted to kill Frank Walker and go back to jail, now he can legally do it.

It is a no way out story unless the local doctor can convince the Marshals that the passengers are no longer a threat.

This episode begins with two British sailors that has jumped ship in San Francisco and on way to Chicago. While they are stopped for a rest, these armed men gather around and start shooting at the sailors. They manage to kill one of them but the other, Liverpool Jack, manages to get away. The armed men then burn all the belongs left behind along with the corpse.

Simon is riding a few people out west and comes up on the sailor. He offers him a ride and since the sailor has no horse, he cheerfully agrees. When they get to Zeke's place at he midpoint station, they prepare for a good night sleep. But the armed men show up at the station and begin firing at the house. They are wanting to kill the entire lot of people. And one of the people in the station is a small girl about six years old.

Simon learns that the armed men are actually from the US Marshal service. The ship that the sailors jumped had been carrying the Bubonic plague. They are under orders to kill everyone that has come in contact with the sailors. That includes everyone that was on the stagecoach plus Zeke. When the small child gets a high fever, the people in the station are set to face gunfire.

This was a unique and interesting story. The situation is much different from the western norm and produces some fine suspense to the plot. Add the side-plots of a man wanting revenge and a woman on her way west for her first job at a rural saloon and you have an entertaining episode. Enjoyed the show from beginning to end.
