An enjoyable start to the series

Most of the time the first episode to any series is somewhat hum-drum. You have to introduce the characters and give background information so that the audience can follow the story. But with the hour format this episode prove to be a majestic tale for this short run series.

It begins in a town called Coatsville where we meet Simon Kane and his young son, Davey. It is just the two of them since the mother ran off right after Davey's birth. This was a sore spot for Simon as he searched for his wife, even stealing money, for many years and finally gave-up and sparing Davey by just telling him that she died. But there is one man in town, Tom Osgood, that knows the real story behind her. He is also the man that Simon stole the money from and has been using this against Simon for a long time.

When Simon has enough money saved he makes Simon sign a note saying that the money had been repaid. Simon is leaving town and Osgood is not happy. With the signed note he cannot keep punishing Simon for his transgressions. So he hires an gunman to kill Simon while they are on the Stagecoach driven by Luke Perry. Along the path, Simon will run into the gunman and also have to face a shadow from the past. With the gunman set on killing Simon it is going to be a sleepless night with all the drama going on in the plot.

This was an enjoyable watch as so much interesting things were being played out. With so good acting and a nice story-line, this episode proved that the first show was a winner.
