Three Mexicans want a US Colonel that is on the stagecoach.
kfo94945 August 2016
In this episode the stagecoach is rolling along with Simon and Davey at the driver's position. As for the passengers you have a fancy actor returning from the west coast, a beautiful and headstrong woman named Linda, a marshal that is carrying a prisoner by the name of Johnny Dane plus you have a Colonel in the US Cavalry named Sam Carlin.

Along the road the stagecoach has to stop due to a wagon on the narrow path. All of the sudden the Marshal is killed and Simon takes a bullet in the shoulder. There are three Mexican that have stopped the stage and their objective is to capture Colonel Carlin. It seems that Colonel Carlin is being recalled to Washington after complaints about the way the Colonel treats the Mexicans.

The Mexicans that have stopped the stage lets the group wander around in the desert without any water knowing that sooner or later they will have the Colonel. And we, the viewer, will find that that the Colonel may be sicker than he looks. Plus we will find out that the prisoner, played by Jack Lord, maybe the bravest man of the lot.

This was a entertaining story that was played well by all involved. John Dehner played the Colonel in such a way that the lines were lost between actor and character. His portrayal of the hard-nose Colonel was a nice thing to behold. Jack Lord was again great as he played the prisoner. You can tell at this point that he will go far in the acting business. Even though it was an interesting show, it was odd that Jack Lord starred in back-to-back episode of the series. They could have at least waited a few weeks before placing Mr Lord in a return spot as 'Special Guest Star' at least to get over the fact that his character was killed just last show. When watching these episode in succession, it was difficult to see Mr Lord playing two different criminals so close together. However, that was just an odd fact and took little away from the episode.

The Butcher
Prismark1030 December 2023
The Butcher is US Army Colonel Sam Carlin (John Dehner.) He has been recalled to Washington for using excessive force against a Mexican uprising in California.

Domingo is a bandit who wants to give his own brand of justice to Colonel Carlin for the Mexicans he has slaughtered. Domingo has set a trap for the stagecoach to stop.

The stagecoach is carrying Colonel Carlin as a passenger. It also has a prisoner Johnny Dane (Jack Lord) accompanied by a Marshall. An actor and a young woman.

During the hold up the Marshall is killed, Simon Kane is injured. Domingo lets them wander around the desert, but without water and food, the group would soon get tired.

Jack Lord appears in two back to back episodes as different characters. Both times a villain, but a different kind in this one.

Both Lord and Dehner play imposing characters. Carlin is headstrong but is going mad, Simon Kane can see that. In the end Johnny Dane needs to step up to allow others to escape.
