The episode begins in Dodge City where a bank robbery is in progress. During the escape of the robbers, the deputy marshal, Ken Rawlins, shoots two of the gang members before they get out of town. With everyone in praise of the young deputy's action, it comes as a shock to Ken that one of the robbers happens to be his brother. He quits immediately in search of another job.
Watching all this action is the man behind the robbery, Mack Knowles. Mack is one of those people that get others to do his dirty work as he sets back and makes money. He also has a long time female accomplice by the name of Ruby Sanders. Even though Mack and Ruby cannot be connected with the robbery it is not long before the Marshal makes them leave town when they try to roll a man for money.
Meanwhile, Ken Rawlins has taken a job at the outpost working with Zeke which was all set up by Simon. On one of the runs to the outpost, the stage just happens to contain Mack and Ruby. Mack knows that Ken is tore up about having to shoot his brother. This may lead Mack and Ruby on another get-rich-quick schemes but as always someone is bound to get hurt.
This happen to be a very nice story that had excitement near every turn. There is more going on in this episode which includes a stagecoach passenger coming out west to marry a man only to find that he has died. Even though that situation had interest, it was not germane to the main plot. The side-plot only complemented the main story.
This was an interesting story that was entertaining from beginning to end. After a few shows that seemed more complex than needed- this episode brought us back to a show that had the viewer engrossed the entire time. Good watch.
