Thoams and Sarah need servants of their own!

March, 1912 Part 2 in a two-part story; Whilst the first part was the absolute low point of this series (see my Review for the preceding episode) this is by far one of the most high! Thomas and Sarah, having acquired a house as large and as proud as any the Bellamy's may have occupied, they are now master and mistress of their own establishment! As if this is not enough; they begin to 'speculate' on the Stock Market - successfully, and acquire a huge wealth to go with it! This enables them to engage proper servants, and have a staff of their own! This episode is most enjoyable - if only for the fact of seeing how the working class could 'adapt' to an 'upper class' lifestyle! Having servants brings its own problems; their wishing to be 'too' familiar, and knowing 'what's what'! But it also goes to show that everything one wishes for is not always what it seems...

This story goes a good way in showing that it was in fact the working classes who had much influence on the upper classes in the way that they lived - both morally, and the way they lead their lives, though neither probably in reality were aware of it...

Though humorous in places, still causes for some 'sympathy' in yet what would become just another venture for the hapless Thomas and Sarah that would go all pear-shaped...

Marvellous entertainment! Features an early role for a young Linda Robson of 'Birds Of A Feather' fame! See if you can spot her without looking at the credits first!
