Guest starring David Lynch
Tweekums18 May 2012
Warning: Spoilers
After the excitement at One Eyed Jacks in the previous episode Cooper and Truman return to Twin Peaks with Laura who is still affected by the large dose of heroin she'd been given. Her father says he is pleased to have her back but is unsettled when she says she knows what was going on north of the border... a clear reference to her father being the owner of One Eyed Jacks. Later on Cooper's senior; FBI Regional Bureau Chief Gordon Cole turns up and gives him a warning about his former partner Windom Earle. Elsewhere in Twin Peaks Leo Johnson has been released into the care of Shelley and Bobby who aren't impressed with the pitiful insurance money but throw a party anyway... mainly to mock Leo now that he is no longer a threat to anybody.

This episode may have less excitement than the previous one but it is still entertaining; the highlight of the episode being an appearance from series creator David Lynch as Cooper's boss; his character is rather deaf, mishearing everything said to him and talking very loudly, even when discussing private matters! Leo's 'party' was fairly surreal as he sat there with a kazoo in his mouth while Bobby and Shelly started to get intimate in front of him. Things got even more surreal at the end when the one armed man was brought into custody and Cooper got to talk to 'Mike', the man from his dream, again.

Some Pretty Funny Stuff Despite the Violence
Hitchcoc9 June 2017
Audrey has been returned to the fold, although that fold has a wolf in it, Audrey's father. He is a real piece of work and probably would kill his own daughter rather than have her talk. The Japanese element holds forth and it is imperative that Josie go back to her home country. The one armed man changes to Mike and talks to Cooper. One of the most entertaining figures is played by David Lynch, Cooper's supervisor, who is nearly deaf. In another ridiculous scene, Shelley and Bobby throw a party for Leo, who is in a vegetative state, but is beginning to show some signs of life. Maddy and Laura manage to escape from Howard with the help of James. Lots of character stuff.

comedy, surrealism, and horror intertwine in another great episode
framptonhollis14 October 2017
Like any episode of the original "Peaks" series, this one has its overly melodramatic moments that can sometimes be laughable (which is sometimes intentional, sometimes unintentional), but most of the laughs here are genuine. David Lynch himself guest stars as the near deaf Gordon Cole who is definitely one of the best and funniest characters from the show despite his limited amount of screen time in this season (luckily, he became a huge part of season 3). Lynch's performance is as hilarious and strange as one could ever wish for, and he's constantly shouting quotable lines while also moving the plot along.

Other moments delve into more horrific and mysterious territory, particularly the encounter with Philip Gerard who, when unable to use his medication, reveals that he is no more than a host to the spirit of Mike, who was previously seen in Agent Cooper's dream. The sequence is surreal and creepy, and Al Strobel's performance is as frightening and powerful as can be. His booming voice and starkly serious facial expressions add heavy layers to his enigmatic, spiritual, and eerie overall character. More surrealistic moments can be found in a disabled Leo's welcome home "party", mildly absurdist dialogue about musicals delivered hilariously by Jack Nance, etc. Much of the surrealism comes from slight details in behavior or setting that make the entirety of some sequences feel gloriously "off", adding on to the show's knack for comical absurdity and mysterious horror.

Warning: Spoilers
We finally got to see David Lynch on camera, and he was hilarious, and quite effortlessly so. It was great seeing him and I hope we get quite a lot more of him. This episode was in general just filled with some really excellent moments. Jocelyn's plot got very interesting, and her scene with Ben was actually brilliant: a really nicely written power game between the two. James and Madeleine shared a heartfelt goodbye, and as much of a knucklehead as he is, you have to feel for James. I can only imagine what it must be like to have your girlfriend die whilst you're falling for her friend, then get with that friend, only for what is essentially your dead girlfriend's clone to turn up. Then of course there was the brilliant final scene where we finally got some real concrete answers as to the nature of BOB and Mike. The idea of travelling spirits sounds fantastic and I'm very excited to see what they do with it. Overall this was a really good episode

I'm watching for the first time and I have to say that this is probably my favorite episode of twin peaks so far. It's just brilliant. Pacing is perfect. There's this brilliant shot of James and Maddy and a Fisherman.

Warning: Spoilers
Donna finally failed to get the diary of Diana. Leo is back in the house but the couple will get less money than expected. David Lynch is here and play the superior of Cooper where he deliver him a message. They finally know where Bob is located thanks to the man who missing one arm. Josie seem really dangerous in the business and she will get away.

Still interesting. The episode show us the director as an actor and that was pretty surprising. I was surprised to see David Lynch in the episode. The mysteries are still there and things getting interesting because now they know where is Bob the main suspect in this case. Need to see more.
