A pawn is taken
Tweekums12 June 2012
Warning: Spoilers
When Cooper and the sheriff's department return to Owl Cave they see the new set of petroglyphs that were exposed by Windom Earle at the end of the previous episode. Cooper doesn't know what they mean but he is convinced that Earle is involved with their appearance and the disappearance of Leo Johnson. Earle meanwhile is explaining about the White and Black lodges to an unnamed man; a man destined to become the next pawn in Earle's murderous game. As the date of the Miss Twin Peaks pageant approaches Billy tries to persuade Shelly to enter and the Mayor's young fiancée tries to persuade him to ensure that she wins. Away from the case Cooper is getting closer to Annie and his boss Gordon Cole is falling for Shelley, the only person who doesn't have to shout to be heard by him.

As the series approaches its conclusion the tension is gradually increasing as we know Windom Earle intends to kill the winner of Miss Twin Peaks and Cooper learns that Earle is playing games with Donna, Audrey and Shelly. His latest murder is done in such a way that is both bizarre, theatrical and leaves no doubt as to his insanity. Kenneth Welsh does a fine job as Earle; managing to keep the character believable despite his actions. The episode wasn't all mystery; there were some good laughs to be had during Dick Tremayne's wine tasting session and an even bigger laugh was to be had when Bobby walks into the diner just as Gordon Cole kissed Shelly! David Lynch is hilarious in the role of Gordon Cole.

Warning: Spoilers
Things are getting very good again. Cooper is genuinely happy right now, not that he's ever really not happy but like he's reealllly happy. I find myself for the first time in a long time really hoping that they don't kill off a character, who in this case would be Annie. Of course, Windom Earle has his eyes on her, so she's definitely not safe. Tension was evident throughout this episode as a result purely of his unpredictability. In that sense I have definitely warmed to him, especially as he seems to be involved with this strange stuff happening with the owls and the Black/White Lodge. This episode overall certainly seemed to have the theme of love. Gordon Cole became the literal mr. steal your girl in a great scene with Shelly, and Cooper and John shared an excellent chat near the end of the episode about how simultaneously debilitating and wondrous love can be. I'm sure they'll both meet again. As for the cliffhanger, with the Miss Twin Peaks contest looming, it looks like it could be a very dramatic finish

The Girls Line Up for the Evil Windom Earle!
Hitchcoc20 August 2017
As Cooper falls in love with Annie, things are getting deadly. The Miss Twin Peaks beauty pageant is the focus of the evil Windom's next move. The winner of the contest is to be the next victim. But every significant young woman, including Annie, are in the running. Lana is trying to fix the contest, which isn't to her benefit. All that said, Windom and Leo lure a young doper to their lair with the promise of free beer. He is to be used in an interesting way. One of the clues that are being investigated is a magic box, one of those things that require great skill to open. It is connected to Josie. Cooper and Harry make a weird discover at a gazebo as the episode ends.

Miss Twin Peaks

Warning: Spoilers
Twin Peaks prepare the competition of Miss Twin Peaks. Love is something pretty frequent in That town. Cooper have a date and we will understand that the poem that the three womans received was a letter who come from Earle because Cooper send that poem to the lover that he had in common with Earl. Donna try to know more about her mother who keep some secret. Cooper and his agent will find a big thing that seem to be sent from Windom Earle

The episode is still interesting and we feel that the end is pretty close: the tension come back, Windom Earle become more unpredictable, we have also some mysteries with Catherine who tried to open a mysterious box. Need to see more.

Needs more mystery
fionafarsi8 January 2021
I wish the show would focus more on the mystery especially since these past several episodes have been more focused on character relationships. We got to see more of Windam Earle which was interesting but he's not the best villain on the show. I really hope it starts to get back on its feet because ever since episode 9, it has been largely uninteresting. The last few moments where Coop and the other guy see what's really in the box was a very interesting moment, though. I hope there's more to come.
