This was one of the best episodes in the series in my view. It contained some of the silliness that was the trademark of the last two seasons (and that's what we loved about the show anyway!) However, some thought went into it as well. You learn a little about history and until I saw the episode I was unaware of Major John Andre. From reading about him in the encyclopedia I learned that he was purportedly very much like the character as portrayed so well by William Beckley. The closing scene where Kowalski asks Nelson what would be Andre's fate is thoughtful and somewhat moving as well. Wonderful performances by Barry Atwater and the always delightful Henry Jones as the impish Mr. Pem. A blend of both action and historical interest, "No Way Back" closed the classic series on a definite high note.

The final episode: This starts with the submarine Seaview being blown out of the water! No it is not a dream or some alien mind game. This really happens, the Seaview is destroyed with all hands on board at the time lost! Lost In Space ended in the Junkyard Of Space and Land Of The Giants ended in the Graveyard Of Fools. Irwin Allen was a happy little fellow? It is now up to time traveller Mr Pem - Henry Jones - to fix things by taking Nelson back in time before the sub exploded...and stop it from happening.
In 1964 Voyage/Sea started with a knockout pilot episode called - Eleven Days To Zero - guest starring Eddie Albert in the best role this guy has ever done. Richard Basehart (Nelson), Del Monroe (Kowalski) and narrator Dick Tufeld also shined in the pilot. The Paul Sawtell music score was outstanding! Now fast forward to four years later with the Voyage/Sea final episode No Way Back. The series is still a total winner! Very different but still a total winner!
No Way Back has more of a Time Tunnel-feel than other Voyage time travel episodes as figures from history actually drop into the Seaview control room. We even hear a bit of stock Time Tunnel music to push the point that this is Time Tunnel ground we are on here. Richard Basehart seems unusually happy in this episode...perhaps he was just happy the whole Voyage thing was over?
Henry Jones shines as always, he makes a bitchy comment about Captain Crane and makes a comment about how wonderful the Seaview crew all look.
And so ends this 110 hour thing called Voyage/Sea. People like this series for all sorts of reasons. There is still a wonderfully devoted bunch of female fans who keep the series alive on the internet in various ways. There is another bunch of people who ONLY like the first season or two of Voyage. But thanks to the recent DVD release of the whole Voyage/Sea series...new fans will now see the series and make new views of it. I have presented my view, a view that demands a lot of respect for music scores and miniature effects, a view not all will relate to, but a view I hope you have enjoyed with my 110 IMDb reviews of Voyage/Sea.
