Fabulous.
I know this is quite a dark show, that deals with pretty grim matter, but this episode is actually rather beautiful. Even though there's a body found in a crypt, there is a softness to this episode that's never seen on the show again. The music is gorgeous, very soft and melodic, really given it that softer feel. There's a strong sense of community, that's also something you don't see on the show again. I love the story, but I also love the characters, so many genuinely strong and memorable players, Annette Crosbie, Con O'Neill, James Hayes all great, Barry Morse was incredibly good as Father Sebastian, very memorable performance. This first series of Waking the Dead was exceptional, every episode so strong. This is a favourite.
