The first of four scripts contributed by star Gabriel Kaplan, "And Baby Makes Four" concludes with the unexpected arrival of Julie's parents from Nebraska, played by Jack Dodson and Alice Backes. With Woodman filling in at school, Kotter takes his wife and twin daughters home to their tiny apartment, and with her folks in town to celebrate poor Gabe is forced to sleep on the fire escape. Mr. Hansen seems to have a sense of humor to rival Kotter's, the babies named after each of the parents' mothers, Robin and Rachel. Gabe refers to his father-in-law as 'Mr. Cock a Doodle Do!' The question of what to do about Barbarino being left back would wait a couple more weeks.
