Epstein has a flair for beauty
kevinolzak3 July 2016
"Epstein's Madonna" opens with the Sweathogs showing off their pieces of art in Kotter's classroom, Epstein self appointed painter of the schoolyard mural, a nude portrait of a young woman. Mr. Woodman is apoplectic to see any form of nakedness on the wall, but even Principal Lazarus believes that if art teacher Paula Holtzgang (Denise Galik) gives it a passing grade it can remain intact for the rest of the week. Something about the girl's face looks very familiar to Gabe, especially when Juan admits that it's Julie! Mrs. Kotter feels genuinely flattered to know that her face tops the nude body of the often mentioned yet never seen Dolores Delvecchio, Epstein using Julie's countenance because all of the other girls he knows have zits! This was the only return appearance of lovely Denise Galik, previously introduced in "I Wonder Who's Kissing Gabe Now." The weirdo who pops in at the climax is played by Stan Ross, a Jackie Gleason sidekick, revealed to be one of Kotter's mythical uncles!
