'Hotsy' Sets Them Straight!
ccthemovieman-12 February 2010
The central "message" in this story is a high school girl being perceived as "easy" when she isn't and how that hurts her. No argument there. Of course, it doesn't help you are going around being known as "Hotsy Totsy" (Debralee Scott). Still, the girl had an excellent point although lying that she is pregnant wasn't exactly the right way to solve her problem, either. It certainly got Kotter needless concerned.

Scott, usually a minor player in this comedy TV show, stars in here and does a fine job. She wasn't just a regular on this show. She starred in "Angie," a TV show which ran in 1979-80. Before "WBK," she had appeared in 18 episodes of "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman." Sadly, Scott died in 2005 a couple of days after her 52nd birthday. There was never a medical explanation of her death. Ironically, she had just moved to be with her ailing sister in Florida when she collapsed and fell into a coma herself. Nobody knew why. Soon, she was fine and left the hospital to celebrate her birthday, and then died three days later. The cause of death was listed as "uncertain."

"Arnold Horshack" (Ron Palillo) is the "good guy" in this episode in that, of all the Sweathogs, he seems to be the only one who gives "Rosalie" (Hotsy) the respect she deserves. Horshack isn't much more moral than any of the other guys, but he does seem to have a bigger heart, and at least he knows his place. Then again, it's easier to do that when the other guys are bigger, stronger and intimidating. Any guy who's gone through elementary and high school knows what "bullies" can do. It always amazed me that the nerdy Horshack was so accepted by the bigger and tough "cool guys" of the Sweathogs. Arnold was definitely the black sheep of that group. They even liked his dumb (but funny) laugh!

Introducing Debralee Scott as Hotsy Totsy
kevinolzak25 June 2016
"Whodunit?" was the episode that introduced Debralee Scott as female Sweathog Rosalie Totsy, better known as 'Hotsy Totsy,' and none too thrilled to have a reputation of loose morals. The daughter of a reverend involves Kotter in her plan to teach the guys a lesson by falsely claiming to be pregnant, but refusing to name the father: "he knows who he is and he can step forward himself!" For the first time Kotter introduces his students as the Four Marx Brothers: 'Wacko, Jerko, Stupo, and Dummo!' When Rosalie tells the boys that one of them is responsible for knocking her up, they all slither out except for Arnold, who innocently proposes marriage because he wants her baby to have a name: "Horshack is a very old and respected name, it means the cattle are dying!" Kotter takes Rosalie home to meet his wife Julie, who walks in just as the girl is kissing Gabe on the cheek: "what she was doing was thanking me because she's gonna have a baby!" Rosalie's response to Julie's question about family planning: "you can't plan a family in a '57 Chevy!" All of the Sweathogs confess that they went out with Rosalie and that nothing ever happened, Washington admitting that he's never dated her (Epstein: "why'd you say you did?" Washington: "why not?"). Very controversial in its day and still trenchant now, but probably not the best way to abolish a bad reputation.
