''I hope you are satisfied, Thatcher!''
Rabical-9127 April 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The lads are so strapped for cash that they are resorting to burning their, well, Rick and Neil's possessions in order to keep warm. Eventually, they come to the conclusion that one of them needs to get a job but none are keen.

Eventually, Neil draws the short straw and ends up getting a job with the police force after Vyvyan reveals that he is pregnant!

'Cash' isn't as good as the previous episode but there are still laughs to be had, particularly with a scene involving a fight between two headless ghosts, one of which whose head has the misfortune to land in the lap of a flatulent female. Paul Bradley makes his second and last appearance as Neil's beatnik friend Warlock.

The original broadcast of this episode features a musical performance of 'Subterranean Homesick Blues' by Ken Bishop's Nice Twelve. This was edited out of DVD releases due to rights issues.

Funniest bit - Rick falling down the stairs, the bannister slats painstakingly gathering between his legs as he slides down!

Young Ones At Their Surreal Best

Warning: Spoilers
The guys are down on their luck, and resort to burning virtually every item of furniture to keep warm. Rick, Neil and Mike are stunned by Vyvyan's revelation that he's pregnant, and all agree that Neil has to get a job to help support his housemate's baby. Armed with a half-finished haircut, Neil impresses Alexei Sayle's Mussolini-imitating Chief of Police, and is recruited on the spot. His first job is to go to an address where a party is being held, and "smash the place up." Meanwhile, a lorry containing luxurious items from food and money to furniture and clothes crashes through the student house, and Neil returns from work to see the boys wallowing in decadence.

Neil performs his policeman duties by attempting to arrest his housemates for suspected theft, but after being struck twice by Neil's truncheon, Vyvyan goes into labour.

It turns out that the pregnancy is actually trapped wind, which manifests itself as spectacular flatulence.

Mike returns to the room to congratulate Vyv on his baby, and to ask whether it's a boy or a girl. Mike hands the father a cigar to celebrate, but the methane-rich atmosphere ignites from Mike's lighter, and the house explodes.
