Literal cliffhanger ending to this episode

This was one episode of Pokémon first season, alternative title "Riddle Me This" (next episode is much preferable than this one) And just passed it's twenty-fourth anniversary.

Gary appears in this episode, being a smug snake and spends every second of his screen time being a condescending jerk to Ash.

Dramatic irony like when Ash and the others ran off after seeing Jigglypuff, Gary wrote them off with "They don't know what they're missing" Gary deserved having Jigglypuff doodling on his face whilst asleep to her song.

They finally find the hidden battlefield run by the hippie bloke, giving them riddles.

First the elgeant fox pokemon, Ninetales, which overpowerrs the small turtle Squirtle with one Fire Spin attack.

Ash, still an irresponsible trainer, brings out disobedient Charizard which would be interesting. Blaine's second pokémon, Rhydon (combination of dinosaur and rhinoceros, ground-type resistant to heat) not resistant to electricity before Pikachu struck it on the horn.

Then Blaine's final Pokémon the freaky spitfire pokémon: Magmar - way of dramatic music, and instead of a pokéball, it appears from the lake of lava beneath the battlefield.

Pikachu facing down Magmar's Fire Blast, leaving this another Pokémon episode ending with cliffhanger (literally for Pikachu). It's the next episode is preferable with one pokemon of Ash's to battle Magmar and win that Volcano Badge.
