"A Sweathog Christmas Special" was similar to the third season's kickoff of three months earlier, "Sweathog Back-to-School Special," namely a show consisting of clips from favorite scenes from past episodes. All of the Sweathogs plus Mr. Woodman show up at the Kotters' new apartment to celebrate Christmas Eve. We get scenes featuring cast members such as Debralee Scott, Helaine Lembeck, Vernee Watson, Charles Fleischer, and Bob Harcum. Carvelli's debut appearance in "Sweatside Story" is shown, along with his second appearance in "Horshack vs. Carvelli," which was the only script by Garry Shandling. Epstein's humiliation in "One of Our Sweathogs is Missing" is another favorite, but as soon as Kotter begins telling a story everybody leaves, with only Santa Claus around to listen.
