It's a hard knock life

"Eletrodoméstica" is a Brazilian Portuguese-language short film from 2005, so this one is already over a decade old and it is the possibly most known short film work by writer and director Kleber Mendonça Filho. He will have his 50th birthday next year and with his two recent full feature films, there is no denying anymore he is among Brazil's most successful filmmakers of the 21st century. These 23 minutes are basically a day in the life of a Brazilian housewife and sadly the outcome here at times is like watching paint dry. The scenes when she is alone are very boring and it gets slightly better when she is talking to her kids about school. The only genre here is comedy, but the slightly funny moments are far from enough, even for this running time. So I would say that KMF was still far from his best at that point as I would say the film had quite a few lengths. The ending was unexpected of course, but it's nothing good or memorable either. I cannot judge how realistic it is. All in all, this one gets a thumbs-down from me. Not recommended.
