The Doctor proves his genius, and devises a clever plan to defeat WOTAN, and save the day.
Part three ramped up the pace, and certainly changed the tone from the creepy atmosphere established in the first episode. The story concludes well, it's a good story, it's well executed, I do feel however, that it's just missing something. The War Machines look a little too cumbersome to create any real threat, and after the maniacal ravings of WOTAN, set to take over the world, the War Machines don't quite cut it. Poor Dodo, mentioned, but never seen again.
On the plus side, Hartnell is brilliant, I've always found his performance commanding, one of his best, there's a great scene where he confronts a War Machine, he shows real presence. Seeing Ben and Polly wander into the TARDIS is wonderful, the pair had truly impressed throughout, I'm sure everyone was delighted to see them as the new companions. The scenes of an empty London look good, not iconic like the ones from Dalek Invasion, but still poignant.
Part 3 is the highlight, but it ends well, there are some glorious scenes of 60's London, and some wonderful fashions. Visually it's delightful, but those War Machines lack menace.
