This is another of my favorite episodes of the show.

Before we get down to business, I just must get some things off my chest. The only short straws of this episode are for one thing it has a great idea but could have gone further with itself. I think this would have worked better if it was a two- or three-episode arc, but due to this show along with other shows back then not regularly doing them it couldn't be helped. This I think it's too bad because with this we could have seen each of the villains utilized more, do more damage, let alone even the allies utilized more as well.

Which gets to my next short straw, the Turtles don't have a Justice League or Avengers team of their own to even the score. This was an opportunity unseized and underutilized, because personally I was looking forward to seeing some of the supporting characters from past episodes come back and help form this team, which would have been awesome an epic. Though it could be because of running time and being a half hour episode making them unable to fit more characters and have time with them; so, this short coming couldn't be helped.

We do see a bit of a team but unfortunately the roster is a bit lame. From April and Irma who are useless as usual.

There is one strong and useful member which is Casey Jones, which was awesome as he's one of my favorite supporting characters, in this show. You can say he's sort of the "Boba Fett" of the group from the fact he never takes the mask off which gives him the mystic quality, and still is good at doing what he does best, kicking butt. Really like the little hint that April has his number which almost suggests both could be secreting dating, which makes sense as both characters are a couple in the comic series. Though I should say two strong and useful members as Splinter is number two.

But there is one member in this group that just stuck out like a sore thumb, and that is Zack. Really Splinter, out of all the supporting characters to call up for help it's that guy; man, Splinter must have been desperate. I personally never cared for Zack as he's kind of annoying sort of that eager bever fan boy stereotype. Let alone the character is just fraking useless throughout the entire episode. Well except for one instance but that is something that any of the other characters mainly Donatello could have resolved. Personally, it would have made more sense if Splinter called up "Usagi Yojimbo". That would have been awesome and made a lot more sense, having Casey, Usagi, Splinter, and the Turtles fighting together, think how that could have been, once again an example of an opportunity lost.

Last there is the moral lesson of the week in the episode that is forcefully tacked on, we could easily have done without and really does nothing for the story.

Ok, now that's out of the way down to business. I really like the premise of seeing Shredder and Krang forming a Legon of Doom. Really like the roster which consists of some well-known villains and some others that were villains of the week.

In a way this whole episode really is the one for the villains as they literally steal the entire episode, and the Turtles are by their nature really second string. It's just a lot of fun seeing each of them interacting with each other which is always fun as you always hear the agreements and disagreements though it's always more the disagreements as everyone is in it for themselves.

And just seeing them kicking butt and really doing some damage. We see that the Turtles are really getting the butts kicked by these guys, which shows how it truly is a whole new ballgame for the turtles but also that these rogues have truly upped their game.

Will the Turtles find a way to get the upper hand, you'll just have to wait and see.

Rating: 3 and a half stars.
