'The New Scooby and Scrappy Doo Show' was one of the Scooby Doo shows that was actually better than remembered through young adult eyes. Never disliked the show, but it was never among my favourites of the Scooby Doo franchise. It still isn't and some episodes are better than others, which is true actually of all the shows in the franchise but more so the 80s incarnations. But there were a few things not picked up upon before that came off really well, and what bothered me when younger actually was one of the best things surprisingly.

"Wizards and Warlocks"/"Scoobsie" is one of the few double bills of the show where the two episodes were pretty much equally good. "Scoobsie", even as a child, was always one of the better episodes because of loving Scooby and the humour so much, but "Wizards and Warlocks" has really surprised me through older eyes. Was worried that it would feel too much like an episode of 'Scooby Doo and Scrappy Doo' with just Scooby, Shaggy and Scrappy (not a good thing particularly, but it was like "Scoobygeist" in that it was a lot more atmospheric and entertaining than it sounds.

"Wizards and Warlocks" (8/10)- Quite thin story-wise and did think that there was a little too much Scrappy.

It has a lot of good things. Did like the spookiness and colour in the animation. The music has familiar but never annoying cues and manages to be lively and not at all jarring with the atmosphere. The intro does stick in the head but has always felt too short. Shaggy and Scooby are nailed and just love their chemistry. Daphne's resourcefulness continues to be refreshing. The voice acting is fine. Loved the creepy atmosphere and even more so the fun, affectionate and endearingly silly dungeons and dragons like shennanigans. Best of all is the humour, while the Scooby turning into a rabbit joke was fun it is this episode that has the funniest gag of the show and is iconic, the one revolving around Scooby's speech impediment.

"Scoobsie" (9/10)- Let down only by the reveal, especially the identity of the perpetrator, it is one of the blatantly obvious not just of the show but also perhaps of the franchise. And also the villain is not particularly great, more silly than menacing.

Fortunately that is not enough to spoil a hugely entertaining episode. Had no issues with the animation, music and voice acting, likewise with the characterisation of the lead characters, but there are things done even better. The hospital drama setting is inspired, the franchise often excelled before and since 'The New Scooby and Scrappy Doo Show' at the mysteries set in a film/television studio and this is no exception. There are some very funny lines throughout (the exchange about the costumes and "well ri rever") and Scooby is absolutely hilarious. The mystery is neat and energetic and it is a shame that the reveal was so predictable.

Very nicely done on the whole. 8/10.
