Untamed Youth

Interesting episode explores the reality behind the myth of wild children, those youngsters who were raised without human contact during those crucial formative bonding years, and if they can be civilized and brought into society later. Several historical examples are presented, but the primary focus is on a young boy in France who was brought up by a scientist determined to not only help him, but answer this age-old question, and the results are decidedly mixed, as the boy doesn't respond the way of a normal child, but in a most particular way, and is much closer to nature, using their five senses in a more primal way. There does appear to be some hope, but great patience is required.

More like fiction than fact.

Warning: Spoilers
Wild Children episode is about Children raised in the wild by Animals. Sounds more like fiction. In Search of address the fictional character Tarzan who was raised by apes. In a world of endless possibilities In Search of investigates! In Search of addresses the stories about such topics. A few historical incidences were breached. Then the story of the wild boy in France. The Chronicles of raising the wild boy. Could the boy learn to talk? Social interact? The out door effects on the body? Wild Children episode came across as an interesting novel. There was the skeptics who explain such a concept is impossible. Starvation, weather etc would make Wild Children impossible. Worth watching. Seven out of ten.

In Search Of... "Wild Chidren" (1980)

This episode takes a look at wild children who were left abandoned by humans and are raised by animals. We learn about several real life cases including one of the most famous in Victor of Aveyron. This here is another very strong episode from the fourth season. Once again this one works so well because the subject itself is just an interesting one and it makes you wonder about these humans and how much animal-like they are. Some of the best stuff deals with Victor as we learn about where he was captured and then learn about the doctor who did everything to try and teach him and reach a somewhat normal life. Fans of the series should certainly enjoy this one.
