The game is afoot, Cthulhu

Warning: Spoilers
A crossover between the adventures of Sherlock Holmes and the Cthulhu Mythos? Arthur Conan Doyle meets Howard P. Lovecraft? The idea was so awesome I could not resist.

The case starts as a series of mysterious kidnappings in Victorian London; Holmes and Watson investigate, discovering sinister drawings, then a creepy underground temple.

The Awakened is a competent first-person adventure game with challenging riddles and ominous atmosphere.

However, I was expecting the game to delve A LOT deeper into Lovecraft's mythology - this barely scratches the surface of the Mythos. In terms of Lovecraftian adventure games, the underrated Infogrames classic Shadow of the Comet (creepiest. game. ever.) is still unsurpassed.

For the best Holmes/Lovecraft crossover in any medium, check out Neil Gaiman's brilliant, award-winning short story A Study in Emerald.

Brilliant Sherlock - Cthulhu game.

After a long time I played a good A.C. Doyle and H.P. Lovecraf influenced adventure PC Game. Comparing the previous Sherlock Games this one is completely done 3D. The plot about the Cthulhu (here called Leviathan, but the statue images are clear) is something very fresh to this detective genre. The part by Mississipi is just as a copy of the novel Call of Cthulhu from H.P. Lovecraft. Very well done, great graphics, great plot, great sounds and dubbing, great atmosphere, what do You want more? Little bit of Gore, good riddles, and especially Sherlock and Watson as main characters again. I was always fan of good adventure games...this one rules.

Buy, Play And Enjoy
