Lone Gunman?
AaronCapenBanner28 September 2014
The still highly controversial topic about the possible conspiracy surrounding the assassination of U.S. president JFK in Dallas, Texas back in November 1963, and whether or not accused gunman Lee Harvey Oswald was indeed responsible, or a self-described patsy. The episode analyzes a tape recorded from a motorcycle patrolman that may have recorded a fourth shot, which by definition means a second gunman was present. Also looks at whether there was an impostor of Oswald's who was hired by the Soviets to set him up. Fascinating look at what may have happened will no doubt only reinforce those who believe in conspiracy, and irritate those who don't, and will search out holes to discredit it.

I wonder if writer/director Oliver Stone ever saw this episode?...

One of the more memorable episodes.

Warning: Spoilers
Lee Harvey Oswald is a compelling episode, because of the topic. The Lee Harvey Oswsld episode fits into the In Search of series like a Hammer and Sickle! Great topic. First is the back ground in Dallas about the Kennedy assassination. The police audio tape of more shots fired, and eye witness accounts, along with a home video present evidence of a conspiracy. There is back ground on Lee Harvey! Interviews about that tragic day! Theories of more than one shooter. A British coroner/experts who believes the shooter was a Soviet agent because the coroner report is different Oswald's medical reports from the Marines. A hand writing experts believe Oswald's diaries were manufactured, which add to the Russian conspiracy. Edited, narrated, interviewed and directed in the In Search Series excellence. Worth watching 8 out of ten stars.

Warning: Spoilers
I have always been fascinated by the Kennedy assassination. Its hard to believe that in eight more weeks it will be sixty years since that horrific day in Dallas, Texas and we are still no closer to the truth now as we were then. This episode of In Search Of...while entertaining as always has been discredited. A large portion of it deals with a bizarre theory by an eccentric English lawyer named Michael Eddowes who claimed that the man who killed Kennedy was not Lee Harvey Oswald but a Soviet impostor. He points to a number of minor discrepancies on the autopsy of Oswald and his Marine medical records to "prove" hs claim. However, it should be pointed out that less then a year after this episode aired, Oswald's body was exhumed and dental records proved it was his beyond any doubt.

In Search Of... "Lee Harvey Oswald" (1980)

It's a little bit shocking that the series took so long to get to the John F. Kennedy assassination but the wait was well worth it and this turned out to be another excellent episode. The theory explored here is not only did Oswald act alone but what if he was just a look-a-like and there were actually two Oswald's. If you're a fan of conspiracy theories then I'm sure you'll love this episode as it certainly tries to prove that there were two shooters and perhaps neither one was Oswald. The interviews are quite fascinating and I've always enjoyed this case and hearing various theories on what really happened. There's no doubt that this is a highly entertaining episode and one of the best of the series.
