Tragic Beauty
AaronCapenBanner29 September 2014
Hollywood-based episode takes on the mysterious circumstances surrounding the death of superstar Marilyn Monroe, who was found dead by her housekeeper of an apparent overdose, though some dispute this version, saying that it was impossible given certain facts, but that she was instead murdered by person or persons unknown(though many prominent names and motives were thrown out there over time). She was in fact born Norma Jean Baker, who dreamed of making it big, and was one of the few who succeeded, but despite her amazing beauty, was still beset by doubts and insecurities that hurt her career. Today, the case is still being debated, as her enduring appeal lives on, and her many fans wont want to miss this insightful examination.

Warning: Spoilers
In Search of The Death of Marilyn Monroe is more like investigative journalism. There is a build of the life and who was Monroe. Then the Monroe episode asks what happen on the tragic day? Suicide, murder, who, what, are the questions asked. There is the retelling by witnesses of the events on that tragic day. There is the medical, and other experts who believe the death was accidental. There is the counter argument of a murder and or cover up. Theories of who was involved. Why was there bugging devices in Monroe's home? Why where records changed? Is brought up in the Monroe episode. Bounces back and forth with out a conclusion. 7 out of 10. A mystery episode.

In Search Of... "The Death of Marilyn Monroe" (1981)

This episode takes a look at August 5, 1962 when superstar Marilyn Monroe died. Was it suicide? An accidental overdose? Or was there something more sinister including a political murder? There have been countless documentaries done on the death of Monroe and many conspiracy buffs still think that she was murdered. This episode doesn't really break any new ground but it's mildly entertaining for what it is. The film has a pretty good re-enactment of the discovery of the body and there are some nice interviews as well. Fans of Monroe should at least enjoy this episode.
