Better Doubt Than Die

Once again an exhausted Vincent, Jimmy and Nina arrive in another town and this time they find an abandoned toll house.

Both Vincent and Nina are injured. Vincent goes to see his snobbish cousin Louis (Peter Cellier.) Both men detest each other, Louis used to bully Vincent when they were children.

Louis is collaborating with the Nazis as part of the local police. All so he can keep his prize horses. However he also moonlights by helping the local resistance and would not betray his cousin.

A doctor and an undertaker take care of them. Although they suspicious of Jimmy and dislike his insolence.

As for Nina she in shock and has regressed to a 15 year old girl. The doctor sees only one way to cure her condition and bring her back as an adult.

The positive is Bernard Hepton as the undertaker who is part of the Resistance. He would do better in the far superior Secret Army.

As for the rest, the silly casual banter at the beginning of the episode harked back to the first episode of the series. Talking about Nina needing a good seeing to. It turns out that it was just foreshadowing.

It might have been made 44 years ago. You just have to call out the blunt tone deaf sexism.
