Average show but it was pretty cool seeing Sting and Luger team up with Flair and Anderson.

Warning: Spoilers
Hour one.

(08.19.96)

Live from Huntsville, AL

Your hosts are Tony Schiavone & Larry Zbyszko

V.K. Wallstreet Vs "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan

Duggan wins by nailing Wallstreet with tape wrapped around his fist. This was pure crap, plain and simple.

*

Duggan calls Hogan by his first name, Terry. That way, you know it's real. Duggan says Hogan's turned his back on everything and everyone that believed in him. Randy Savage comes down and interrupts Duggan. He basically says he's gonna get revenge on Hogan, and take care of The Giant tonight.

Chris Beniot (W/Woman & Miss Elizabeth) Vs Earl Robert Eaton

Beniot wins with a flying headbutt from the top. Bobby Eaton was used very poorly after a while in WCW. He was mainly an enhancement talent for other wrestlers.

*1/2

Sting & Lex Luger claim they have a surprise for the Four Horsemen later tonight.

Disco Inferno Vs Scott Norton

Norton wins by submission with an armbar.... This was weak stuff. Nobody believed Disco had a chance.

3/4*

Ice Train and Teddy Long cut a promo on Scott Norton.

Dean Malenko Vs "Lord" Steven Regal

Malenko wins with an Oklahoma Roll. It's a bit of a shame this was so short. Just before it ended, it was really starting to get good with nearfalls and excitement.

**

The Four Horsemen are out next for an interview. Arn Anderson says he's never needed anybody to like him, nor has he needed a weapon to feel tough. Despite all the turmoil with the NWO, Sting and Luger are gonna be in for a fight. Ric Flair cuts one of his patented promos as well as we go to hour two.

Hour Two.

Your hosts are Eric Bischoff & Bobby Heenan

The Nasty Boys Vs Public Enemy

Not this match again!! The Nasty Boys win. They have an interview with Gene Okerlund after the match. Brian Knobbs says Hogan is still their friend. Hogan does what he wants, and The Nasty's do what they want. The Nasty's challenge The Steiner Brothers and Harlem Heat.

*1/2

Thoughts: This was every Nasty Boys & Public Enemy match you've seen before. You're not missing anything.

Diamond Dallas Paige Vs Chavo Guererro Jr.

Chavo scores the upset victory with a backslide. DDP makes him pay for it after the match by whipping him with the belt. DDP was starting to become pretty badass. He was getting a lot of cheers in this match, despite being a heel. The match was OK.

*3/4

Nick Patrick says Gene Okerlund and WCW are blowing his mistakes out of proportion. He's a stand-up referee and that's all there is to it.

Tag Team Championship

Harlem Heat (C) (W/Sister Sherri & Col. Rob Parker) Vs The American Males (Marcus Bagwell & Scotty Riggs)

Harlem Heat retains. This wasn't too bad for a television match. They made The American Males look like a threat in this one, and I thought that was good.

**

Ric Flair & Arn Anderson (W/Miss Elizabeth & Woman) Vs Sting & Lex Luger

The match doesn't take place. Sting says he doesn't trust Flair or Anderson, but he knows they are a huge part of WCW. He wants to take the place of Beniot and McMichael in War Games at Fall Brawl. Anderson says he doesn't like Sting or Luger, and he's not sure if they have what it takes. Anderson's willing to consider it if Ric Flair is okay with it. Flair is cool with it as long as Beniot and McMichael agree to step aside. Beniot and McMichael agree to step aside. It'll be Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Sting & Lex Luger Vs The NWO at Fall Brawl.

"Macho Man" Randy Savage Vs The Giant (W/Jimmy Hart)

Savage attacks The Giant with a steel chair before the match even starts. The match ends in a no-contest after The Dungeon of Doom interferes. Savage greets them all with a steel chair. I'm not sure what purpose this served other than to prove that Savage is crazy and fearless.

½*

5/10 overall.

Disco Inferno takes on Scott Norton. Gene Okerlund interviews Ice Train and Teddy Long. Steven Regal faces Dean Malenko. Gene Okerlund interviews the Horsemen. The Nasty Boys battle the Public Enemy. Gene Okerlund interviews the Nasty Boys after the match. Diamond Dallas Page takes on Chavo Guerrero, Jr. Gene Okerlund interviews Nick Patrick after the match. Harlem Heat defends the Tag Team Championship against the American Males. Ric Flair and Arn Anderson are supposed to take on Sting and Lex Luger, but instead, Sting and Luger ask Flair and Anderson to be their partners in the War Games match. We see another NWO paid announcement. The main event was supposed to be the Giant defending the World Championship against Randy Savage, but Savage attacks the Giant before the match and the match doesn't happen. An okay episode.
