At long last, the people of the world will know that the legends are true. They've long foretold of a man deemed with strength, wisdom and cunning that far surpasses any human being, especially around his age range. For you see, the man that has been told about, sung about and praised, is here. The world will finally get to see him in all his true glory. The one, the only, the biggest bad-ass of all time...Montague Jetson! That's right, people, the legends were indeed true. Montague Jetson is as skilled, as cunning, as wise and as strong as the scriptures told. He's an ace pilot and can fast talk himself out of a speeding ticket any day, and right now he's on his way to visit his kin. Nothing can stop him, no force on heaven or earth...except a woman. He stops to help a lady in distress, apparently her car broke down when a bird got sucked into it. Montague fixes the problem instantly and then heads off to see his grandson George. Yes, let me make it perfectly clear that Montague is George's grandfather, not his father. Sure he's 110 in people years, but he's got the body of a 75 year old. So the grandson of Montague gets thrown around in a rocking chair, made especially for the Grandpa's visit, and Jane and Judy return from the mall, having bought a bunch of hilariously hideous crap that they intend to wear and embarrass the old man.
So you may be wondering, what can Montague do? What CAN'T Montague do? He can dance on every square inch of a room. He can throw a spaceball at the speed of light and at the same time, save folks over $200 in replacement windows. And while his grandson is an almost semi-skilled bowler, Montague soon puts him to shame. He even has a higher endurance with space skiing than Jane. He is virtually unstoppable; When taking Astro to the park the next day, Montage meets Betty Rubble, or her space-age counterpart, sitting with her baby. She's looking for a reliable babysitter so she and the mister can go away for a second honeymoon. Montague offers his services instantly. She kisses him for thanks, which Judy happens to witness. Oh no, a woman kissing Grandpa? That witch! Next, Jane eavesdrops on Montague trying to get a (dog) license, and naturally assumes it's a marriage license. Finally, the lady from the park tries to call Montague regarding the baby, she's decided to take her with them. The old man was out, but Judy took the call. So now the women think 110-year-old Montague Jetson is marrying, had a baby in secret and is going on a honeymoon? Is he bad-ass or what? After picking up the dog license, Montague picks up the baby too. He didn't get the message, so it looks like a little H & H will now ensue. So, the cops are called and before Montague can be hauled off to jail, the entire mess is laid out as one big galactic misunderstanding. So, Montague is cleared of all charges, the baby is reunited with her mother, and then Montague goes home, much to the relief of the local police.
This one was a lot of fun. It's hilarious with non-stop twists and turns. Montague Jetson is truly a fantastic character. He's upbeat, funny, positive, an excellent role model, although you may not want to repeat what he does at home, but what he stands for is worth following. Jetson fans, you've gotta see this one. It's one of the series' best episodes and features a wonderful new character, who would return a few more times in the seasons to come.
