Warning: Spoilers
Beauty is only skin deep. Looks mean nothing, as someone who is beautiful is really beautiful on the inside. Anybody with half a brain can tell you these things, while the others who are unable to see passed the looks feel the need to hold frivolous beauty contests, sparking great fits of jealousy and envy, turning husband against wife, especially when the husband is chosen to judge the beauty contest. In The Jetsons' time, things are no different. Jane has bought herself a new $60 dress, well the dress itself was $10 and the extension cord was $50. That's right, the dress glows so she can literally light up a room. Meanwhile George and Elroy are tuned to the Fred Solarvan Show who's got a special guest star: Gina Lolajupiter! Yowza! A mean George sends Elroy away so he can have Gina all to himself. So mesmerized by the starlet that he failed to notice Jane's recent purchase, or even notice Jane for that matter. Not noticing or even caring of her presence. What a jerk. Miss Lolajupiter would be entering the Miss Solar System contest, which was conveniently being sponsored by Spacely Sprockets, so you can guess who the assistant judge would be. As for the judge himself, his wife vowed hell to pay if her husband goes through with the job. Meanwhile, in a somewhat vain attempt to get back at George, Jane enters the Miss Solar System contest with a picture of her in a flashy outfit. It was a long shot, but going by cartoon logic, she is accepted.

As Mr. Spacely and George head for the contest, the boss decides to disguise himself, should his wife be watching, by wearing a Zorro mask. The old Clark Kent trick. But Mrs. Spacely was too smart to fall for that, so she physically dethrones the judge, turning responsibilities over to George, who also wore the face mask, should his spouse be watching too...Oh is he in for a surprise! The contest begins. George falls head over heels for all the glamorous beauties, as well as a late entry, Miss Western Hemisphere...who looks and talks in no way like Jane, especially because she's wearing a face mask too. For her talent submission, she sings a swinging rendition of the classic ballad "Won't You Fly Home, Bill Spacely" (no relation to Mr. Spacely). George is sold and he declares Miss Western Hemisphere the winner, but it's at this point their covers are blown and they are subsequently disqualified. So while Miss Mars goes home with a trophy, George and Jane go home together with a new sense of respect for one another. George realizes what a true blue beauty she really has, and they are both completely undaunted by everything that happened and know they can just forget it happened and move on.

Some may find this episode offensive, especially women, but remember, this was made in 1963. This was the norm. These kinds of episodes tend to be incredibly shallow. A lot of shows have done something like this- the main character gets to be judge of a beauty contest and one of the contestants is his wife/girlfriend/friend, and they end up losing due to possible nepotism and decide they love each other anyway. So when are sitcom writers going to get that beauty contest episodes suck? Anyway, Miss Solar System. Probably the best part is Jane singing. Prepare to be dazzled. Also, this is one of several episodes in which Judy doesn't appear. They could have used her for the contest, but seeing as how she's 15, it would be inappropriate, especially if they had George ogling her.
