A Fantastic Season Finale
planemaster-9929925 February 2021
"Reunion" was by far one of the best animated television season finales that I have ever seen. The animation, art, metaphors, motifs, character development and music score were all utterly compelling, jaw dropping and gave me a near instant feeling of satisfaction.

The use of Bill Wither's "Lean on Me" was especially amazing. It added a great amount of depth and emotion to the episode that no other season finale has delivered ever before.

One of the best season finales. Ever.

Warning: Spoilers
If you haven't watched this show yet, or are just watching the first few episodes but can't quite get into it for some reason, please stick with it. It's worth watching just to get to this amazing finale, one that contains one of the most emotionally rewarding climaxes I've ever seen in animation--or maybe television in general.

You'll never listen to Bill Withers the same way again.

Just a Nice Finale

Warning: Spoilers
This ending was really good. I like how the plot started at end so we can call theorize about how Anne and the others get home. I really want to know more about the whole Valley and Music Box some kind danger and why Hop Pop buried it. I hope season 2 can answer these questions. I just hope Marcy will show up in this the next season since we didn't much of her. Only the fact that she found the music box somewhere on Earth.

Warning: Spoilers
The episode started out as a simple fun finale, then the ending when Sasha let's go of Anne's hand, with Lean On Me playing, it truly was a beautiful moment.

Awesome End to Season 1

Warning: Spoilers
Warning this review obviously has spoilers. This review is the Amphibia season 1 finale, "Reunion." The main plot starts in a flashback with both Anne and Sasha. It cuts to where the previous episode, "Anne of the Year," ended; the toads in Wartwood, Anne and Sasha reunited. Sasha and the toads convince Anne and the Wartwood citizens to come to Toad Tower, where a banquet is hosted. But it's really a trap, the frogs get captured, Anne and Sasha fight each other, the two get separated again, but Anne is still with the Planter family.

Similar to True Colors which I reviewed before; Reunion is great, has action and is an emotional conclusion, this time to season 1 of Amphibia, an already amazing cartoon. I'm going to divide the sections for which I'm going to review, "Reunion."

Animation: Great animation like the rest of the show. Awesome animation highlights are Toad Tower, Anne and Sasha fighting and when Toad Tower collapses, with the Planters, Anne and Sasha holding onto each other, until Sasha falls down, but Grime saves her.

Plot and Writing: Already explained the main plot, but it has great writing throughout. Sasha, Grime and the Toads plan, so they can attempt to execute Hop Pop was very smart and shows how Sasha made the toads competent. It shows an excellent moral for what a real friend is specifically to Anne, rather than a toxic one (Sprig a real friend, Sasha a toxic one).

Tone and Music: "Reunion" does an extraordinary job in its serious tone. As well as funny humor like Grime smiling and the Toad soldier that sounds like Morty from R&M. The song. "Lean on Me," is an excellent inclusion where the Planters, Anne and Sasha hold onto each other, in the collapsing Toad Tower.

Characters: All the characters are likable and serve their roles well. Anne especially, where she goes through excellent character development where she stands up to Sasha, but still cares for her. Sprig was awesome when calling out Sasha for being a bad friend to Anne. Sasha was a brilliant villain, for her smarts, caring for Anne as a friend, even with her manipulative and toxic nature. Captain Grime was a great and intimidating villain. The rest of the characters like Hop Pop, Polly and the rest of the Wartwood citizens were great too.

Conclusion: Amphibia's "Reunion" has awesome animation like the fight scene with Anne and Sasha, an excellent plot, great at being serious with some funny humor, the song being a great addition, excellent characters where Anne goes through great character development. The only flaw is that it only gets really great in the second half, but that is just minor. Anyways "Reunion" is an awesome conclusion to Amphibia season 1 and like what I should have done with "True Colors" before. This gets a 10/10.
