"Herr Feuerstein wird 70, und Herr Schmidt bejubelt ihn" is a German television special from 2007, so this one is already comfortably over a decade old now. Of course, it is also in the German language. The title means: "Mr. Feuerstein has his 70th birthday and Mr. Schmidt cheers for him". These two we have in here are Herbert Feuerstein and Harald Schmidt. They worked together for aquite some time on the television show Schmidteinander, a little play on words, and this one we have here is a reunion. I must say the name of director Ciril Vider confuses me a bit here, not because he does not sound German, but because in the closing credits it said that this is a film or project by Klaus Michael Heinz, but I see Vider has worked on many other Schmidt projects in the past, so maybe he filmed and Heinz produced? Not sure. I doesn't matter too much anyway. By the way, Schmidt himself had his 50th birthday that year and Klaus Michael heinz also made a show for the occasion there. This show, however, was one that was entirely different content-wise. It said in the title that Schmidt is not in the mood to celebrate, which may explain why it basically consisted of snippets of really memorable moments from Schmidt's career and there were some other artists and comedians paying tribute to him by the ways of a little speech, some music etc. But yeah, that is the other one from 2007. For the one here, Schmidt was apparently more motivated as he was the one giving and not the one receiving. It kinda fits. In any case, they/he hired a ship on the river Rhine for him and Feuerstein only and the camera crew of course. So the basic summary here is that in minimally under 75 minutes of time the legendary German television duo talked about all kinds of things. It was relatively light most of the time, except the brief reference about Feuerstein's parents at the end, which seemed like a bit of a complicated subject, so they also did not discuss it in depth. By the way, Feuerstein is Austrian originally, which some do not know, maybe because you don't hear the slightest bit of an accent when he is talking. And he has the German citizenship too. Or I should say "was" and "had" sadly because Feuerstein died earlier this year at the age of 83, so unfortunately he did not make it to 95 as Schmidt suggests at the very end here. Kinda melancholic to hear him say that back then and know Feuerstein is no longer with us. I hope Schmidt will stay for a little while at least. He is also 63 now, so getting closer to the occasion they celebrated here for Feuerstein. And, who knows, maybe he is 70 already when you read this review. I don't think this page here is frequented that much. So a warm hello to you if you got here.

Okay, now a little more about this event here. It is nice. I would like to participate in something like that as well and it is also fitting the occasion I'd say. I mean it was a really round birthday. I think Pastewka (another German comedian I quite like) made something for Feuerstein five years later when he turned 75, but that title does not exist yet. So the description here on imdb that this is for Feuerstein's 75th birthday is of course incorrect. I will correct once I am done with the review. Yeah, the waiters here were really nice and professional and probably "waiter" is not even the right word because they seem too distinguished and that sounds so ordinary. Like I said, I would not mind participating in something like this as well. It also seems like a really nice idea for a romantic evening. Super expensive too of course. What I did like here was how the time of day changed so considerably in 75 minutes. So either this was cut or they picked exactly the time when the sun went down. But I liked it quite a bit. Also how at the end they are near the Kölner Dom, the big famous cathedral in Cologne, and they see it with all the lights when it is dark already. Okay, I know nothing about vine either, but not a problem. I can always drink grape juice or something I suppose. And I definitely would not want to eat stuffed liver or deer meat. Thanks, but no thanks. But it is perfectly fine if they do. To each their own. Okay, what else can I add here? I am glad this got made honestly. I hesitated initially if I would give 4 stars out of 5, was closer to 3 out of 5, but the outcome very much deserves to be seen and you can find it on Youtube. I think it is highly unlikely to ever be shown on television again. Or maybe on Schmidt's 70th birthday maybe. Or on ORF or another Austrian television channel maybe on Feuerstein's birthday or day of death or something. But easiest is of course if you go for Youtube while it's still there. It's entertaining, fun, nice to watch, but also for the aforementioned reason of Feuerstein's recent death also a bit on the side where it makes you think about the fugacity (not sure that is the right word, Vergänglichkeit as we say in German) of it all. There was one moment when Schmidt said something like everybody needs to die, but yeah I decided to watch this one and the aforementioned other special on my own birthday and for that it is also a pretty good choice, especially if you know you like the two protagonists in here. Feuerstein said at the end that he could not have spent the day in a more pleasant manner on his own and that is indeed a really nice compliment. Also from my perspective for sure. I totally get him there. Sometimes it's really nice to be on one's own, although of course if you make comparisons, it always depends on who is with you for the alternative. Okay, I think this is it then. By the way, apparently Feuerstein and his wife back then had plans to move to Berlin here, to my city and I wonder if they did. Might wanna check that out. I only know that he died far away from Berlin, in a much smaller place, but not sure if they never went through with the relocation to Berlin or if they had enough of this metropolis pretty quickly. Not important, never mind. Just what came to my mind now. I hope you liked this brainstorming here and I wish you all a wonderful life. And a happy birthday for sure too if you are watching this birthday special on your own birthday. Bye now! Oh yes, one thing I forgot: In-between the talk on the ship, we see some comedy scenes from the duo in black-and-white, which was also nice, some of it funny, other stuff okay, nothing really bad, even if it depends on your taste of course. For me, maybe the funniest part was when we had Schmidt dressed-up as an emperor and we see the character's mother too standing next to him and a small character in front and it seemed to trick us into thinking it was a damsel or anything, but of course, it was Feuerstein in disguise. That was funny. Haha not gonna lie, even if I knew what was coming. Okay, that is really all now. Go watch this special as soon as possible. Very dedicated positive recommendation here. That is really all now.
