I had the opportunity to sit down here late in 2022 and watch the 2018 Vietnamese romantic comedy "Tìm Vo Cho Bà" (aka "Bride For Rent"), which apparently was a remake of the 2014 Phillipines version of the movie "Bride For Rent".
Now, I hadn't heard about the movie prior to watching it, but I figured with it being a romantic comedy, then chances were that it wouldn't be all that bad of a movie.
As I haven't watched the 2014 original movie, then I don't know if the 2018 Vietnamese movie from writer Nguyen Phuong Dung and director Luong Trung Tin was an exact frame-by-frame copy of the original, or if it was a loosely translated version.
However, "Tìm Vo Cho Bà" sort of fell short of entertaining me, and I managed to sit through just around 50 minutes of the movie before I tossed the towel in the ring and gave up. The storyline was just too cliché and mundane for my liking. And the fact that the character gallery was essentially just forgettable and less than interesting characters didn't exactly help to win me over.
I am sure that the acting performances in the movie were fair enough, but I honestly didn't really buy into the whole concept of "Tìm Vo Cho Bà". Sure, there are numerous generic romantic comedies out there, but this movie just dropped the ball and never got into the game.
