UniqueParticle18 October 2021
Always top notch acting, writing is exceptional, and exciting vibes! I love all the decision making conversations and everything with Brian Cox is magnificent he's great in nearly anything I've seen him in. Never a dull moment in this season 3 debut; I'm thrilled for more!

Secession
lassegalsgaard18 October 2021
I don't think that there's an hour of television that I've been looking forward to more than the premiere of the new season of "Succession." Ever since Kendall dropped the bombshell at that press conference, the excitement of seeing the outcome of that has been boiling up inside me and now I feel like I'm finally able to exhale again. I fully believe that Jesse Armstrong is going to bring us something memorable with this third season, and having seen the first episode, I'm more confident than ever that this is going to be one of the most intense seasons of television I've ever seen.

In many ways, this is the episode that we've been waiting to see ever since the first episode, as it finally reveals who Logan Roy's successor is going to be. In classic "Succession" fashion, it pretty much keeps the door open, and it seems clear that Logan is not going to be leaving anywhere soon, but he's definitely going to focus more on his fight with Kendall than his duties to the company. And straight off of his Emmy-winning go in the season finale, Jeremy Strong comes back in full force as a more aggressive Kendall off the bat. He's ready to take on the big fight and is fully out of the clutches that his father had him in during the entirety of the second season. There's a war brewing and as a first episode, I felt like this did everything it should to set up what's to come. And it's not going to be pretty. But then again, we don't want it to be. We want it to be as dirty as it possibly can, and we want to see which of these characters will come out on top. And despite them being at the same point in their relationship as they were in the first season, we now have someone to truly root for. And from here on out, Jesse Armstrong has gotten me fully invested in the story once more and seems to have a clear idea of where he's going to go with this third season and I'm super excited.

"Secession" is a great opener to what's promising to be a really hard-hitting season of television drama, and I can't wait to see where it goes. Jeremy Strong is at the top of his game and still manages to shine out in a group of amazing actors because of the amazing writing that supports him.

Loved every single second. This was a mad episode. The story is moving fast. Couldn't get a better start for this season.

Another Emmy for Best Drama incoming if they can keep going like this.

What a fantastic show, this first episode does a great job at setting up what could be the best season in the series so far. Already counting the minutes until the next episode.

And... we're back
dannyedgeprivate18 October 2021
Ever since the series premiere, this show has been a masterclass in slowly but surely ratcheting up the tension. In most TV series, the tension builds throughout the season- there's a big dramatic finale, and the opening of the next season is a lot more relaxed, to be able to ratchet up the drama and tension again during the season. Shows that can increase the tension more and more -not only episode to episode, but season to season- are incredibly rare, and succession is one of them. (the only other that comes to mind is Breaking Bad.) Season 3 picks up all the incredible tension and drama from the end of season 2, and elevates it even higher. This is all to say that this show is masterfully done, and if it sticks the landing (I'm looking at you GOT) will be one of the best shows ever created. Based off its opening, season 3 has potential to be the best season yet.

Amazing start to the new season.
ls_100018 October 2021
Everybody knows how talented the cast are, specially Jeremy Strong as Kendall. Logan, Tom, Shiv, Greg and Roman. All great actors. The script is so well written as always. Very good first episode with the same quality as we know.

Succession is back! This episode exceded my expectations by taking me to a rollercoaster of emotions. If this is the first episode, I can't wait to see what will happen in the next week.

Best in the business

Warning: Spoilers
A really strong season premiere written by creator and show runner, Jesse Armstrong, and directed by executive producer, Mark Mylod. This episode was all about setting the table for the season.

The great war between father and son will undoubtedly produce some of the finest storytelling we've seen in the streaming era. The characters of Logan and Kendall Roy are so well fleshed out and in stark opposition to each other that it seems they were fated to battle each other from the beginning. However, I can't help but feel that Kendall is Icarus, Christopher Moltisanti and Jesse Pinkman all rolled into one. He's overly confident about his efforts to beat his father much like he was in season one, but there's an air of disaster and tragedy that looms around him and I can't shake the feeling that he will lose, and in emphatic fashion. I think that his accident and the subsequent cover up will play into this season - could Kendall lose the war when the world finds out his darkest secret, or worse, could he potentially go to prison? We don't know, but like Frank said of Logan, "he's the comeback kid."

I do wonder if Logan's illness will see a resurgence in this season, as his stress induced stroke has not been used in the storylines since early season one. If anything, the stress of his current predicament is even more precarious than in the pilot. I also see Shiv joining Kendall's side out of bitterness for being passed over for CEO in favour of Gerri. The other characters are in top form as well - Connor trying to convince Willa that they should use the backlash and horrible reviews of their play for further marketing effort was priceless. Roman and Gerri's bubbling romance is still in full effect here. Greg was hilarious as usual, so was Kendall, surprisingly. Great scenes with Naomi and Rava too. Not much Tom, but I'm certain we'll be seeing more of him later. Really excited to see Stewy again as he was one of my favorite characters in the first two seasons.

Overall an excellent episode and great opener for the season. One question though, where is Marcia???

good start to the season

Warning: Spoilers
It was a good start to the season! I'm excited to see how it plays out. I liked how we didn't know who the temporary ceo would be since we couldn't hear logan on the other side of the call. Some funny moments, and it was cool to see kendall be me more out going. That scene when roman called shiv to tell her about the lawyer mess up and gerri being the temporary head had me laughing.

What and explosive return
rickpplochino18 October 2021
This season opener manages to drop you in to this highly combustible and manic scramble in the aftermath of the bombshell dropped by Ken in the season 2 finale.

The pace is relentless and at times leaves you gasping!!

Very hopeful that this season will deliver something special ... at very least some compelling viewing carnage!

Good yet slightly underwhelming start to what should be an intense season.
bayleykedar22 November 2021
Picking up directly from where we left off, Succession starts with the intensity we'd expect after the bombshell that was dropped at the end of its previous season.

However, after the first 10-20 chaotic minutes, the episode tapers off into what feels like a very introductory and, almost, underwhelming premiere. The drama begins to fade, each character begins to position their pieces in play, and whilst this may be a necessary step to establish the narrative for the rest of the season, I expected far more explosive conflict than I actually received after last season's dramatic conclusion.

I am still very intrigued. And I suppose that a few slow episodes before we reach this particular situation's climax will be ok, perhaps I should have expected them.

Cox is marvellous, as always, and he appears to be slipping further and further down a very twisted rabbit hole. Perhaps one that he cannot get out of this time. I am wholeheartedly rooting for Kendall, and it's times like that I'm reminded how much I truly hate this family. Overall, a slow but satisfactory start to Succession's third season. I will certainly be keen to see how this story progresses, however I hope it moves a little quicker in getting there!

great as always but...
alimansouri-4622525 October 2021
I love this series and every character to the bone but im wondering how many times are they going to play the "who is going to be the ceo" card again. Dont get me wrong i love how tense and character driven it gets in these scenes but it loses that sense of urgency and importance a little bit every time they use it.

Aside from that loved all the jokes at the beginning and all the serious tones in the end.

Promising season.

War, what is it good for? Compelling television!
goldenlampshade18 October 2021
Great episode made me want the whole season to be out already but I'm actually excited for the weekly release setup. Event television! I'm feeling Team Kendall but trust Logan will put up a formidable fight as always until the bitter end. I also fundamentally believe Shiv would never leave Logan FOR Kendall, she has her own plans and ambitions and will follow them through to the bitter end. Money and power are nothing without control and autonomy. So ready for CEO Roman in the not too distant future, settling for the always wonderful Gerri though. It's hard to choose a side but I'm excited to see it all play out and oh my goodness the new characters? Already feeling the lawyer and can't wait for more to show up. Go Succession!!

Let thr powerplay commence!
and_mikkelsen15 March 2023
After last seasons bombshell-ending, this season serves as an amazing continuation and hooks you right in for what is undoutably going to be a rollercoaster of a third season! This was exciting from beggining to end eagerly waiting to see what everones next move was going to be!

Its clear now that there is no going back! As Logan best described it: "THIS IS WAR!"... and it shows! I am very excited to see the fall out of this! I have no idea what is going to happen as everyone seeks power!

Acting is superb as always and Kendall is shaping up to be one of the most interesting characters in the show!

Best of the best. The level of screenplay and of the actors is so high that the others tv series cannot reach the half of that. Unbelievable. Every second is fantastic.

He's still mastering it
rashidkahlilrashid20 October 2021
The first episode entitled: Oppa we fell into an ambush There are many series that end with a shocking, breathtaking Hitchcock's end because of their strength. Few of these series have a logical end with sequential events that do not seek to attract the followers in the cheapest possible way, but here we are silent a little out of respect and appreciation for one of the best series of this decade and even the best continuous series even, what he presented The series Sixtion in the first episode of the third part was very amazing, as he added a great challenge to himself by making the viewer inseparable from reality and making him interested in all the details in the case and the great betrayal From the first to the last minute, events are faster than sound at an appropriate pace so that the viewer does not get distracted. Balanced and detailed dialogues on the type of event. Excellent representation as usual, especially from Brian Cox (Logan Roy) and Jeremy Strong (Kindle) I can hardly believe that the difference between the end of the second part and the beginning of the third part is two years completely and completely, and this is due to the artistic crew of the series, including producers, directors, etc.

An important episode that succeeded by all accounts in making me wait for the series every week, eagerly.

[8.5] Logan's so terror-inducing shouts!
cjonesas18 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Episode 1: A sort of underwhelming start to their "familial" problems with the same old repeating in various different sets and "decorations".

The acting and development feels a little too artificial, but then of course, that's only the first episode of the new season, so we need to give their stuff some space to properly unfold.

That said, that was not the bang that I was realistically expecting after the previous finale.

Why do writers insist on the multiple cursing?
4friedchickensandacoke1 November 2021
Im pretty sure your typical billionaire family does not curse as fluently as this whole family does. Are the writers trying to attract viewers below the age of 30?? My only complaint!!

Finally, the Big War
Hitchcoc16 September 2022
As Kendall is feeling his oats, the rest of the cast sits back and kisses the butt of Logan. They never seem to realize that if one crosses him, even in the most innocuous way, he will throw them to the curb (sort of like a former President we all know). The big deal again is who is to become CEO. Shiv wants it big time, but she fails to land a super lawyer friend to work for Logan. She also get the word as to who is indeed the next in line. Kendall shows up at his ex's apartment and begins to run the place. She is trying to be congenial but is prisoner in the house. I think she respects Kendall's new being but doesn't realize she has a viper in her bosom. The group is going from country to country trying to drum up support for Logan and it is not going well.

The usual
pieraussie7 August 2022
After watching this episode I wonder if they should have stopped at 2 seasons with the end of Logan's reign. They started again with the next CEO bingo. And no idea why they keep jumping from Turkey to Croatia to Bosnia ecc. I hope they don't ruin this show with two many seasons like usually happens, see Ozark, Dexter and others.

Too repetitive and tired
rabbitmoon18 September 2023
This episode felt like an AI written parody of Succession so far. All bark, repetitive CEO discussions that we know by now are irrelevant, the usual interludes of Greg, Roman etc giving their clichéd character flourishes. There is no real plot dynamics here, no suspense, it's just treading water over and over.

I hope this season improves. There were moments of greatness sprinkled in the first two seasons, but with a lot of flab and bloat while buying itself time for more focused storytelling. This entire episode felt like flab/bloat to me. Everything Logan spouts some self-conscious insult it feels try-hard and unnatural.
