Mystery Nazi Mistress
AaronCapenBanner2 October 2014
Effective historical based episode looks at the real life mistress, and later wife, of Nazi leader Adolph Hitler, and how such a seemingly innocent woman could have fallen in love with such an evil man. The last days of them in his bunker in April 1945 are stylishly recreated as a silent sequence, and if the account presented is in fact what really happened, or a possible cover-up to hide Eva's escape from the invading Allied forces(the Russians) Some believed Hitler may have escaped, but dental records disprove this, though Eva is still thought to have died with him, even if her dental records can't be verified. A most interesting episode, with a memorable closing sequence.

In Search Of... "Eva Braun" (1982)

This episode of the series takes a look at Eva Braun, the woman who was Hitler's mistress and the person who might have killed herself with him. This episode takes a look at her life and the possibility that she really didn't kill herself but instead escaped Germany. As with a lot of other episodes from this final season, this one here works very well as a biography of Braun as we hear about her early life and how she ended up meeting Hitler. From here the focus is on the final hours of her life with Hitler and what really happened. Fans of the series as well as history buffs will enjoy this episode as it's certainly well-made and features some pretty good re-enactments.

Historical

Warning: Spoilers
More of a historical In Search of. First half is about Eva Braun's early life. Braun was athletic, artistic is breached. How she met Hitler through artistic interest and her time line with history is covered. Braun's strain relationship with Hitler and being the hidden lover of Hitler is the middle part. Then the last third is the speculation that Braun escaped to South America. Eye witness, and rumors are discussed. Found the Eva Braun episode is short on hard evidence about the escape theories. First half educational. Second half thin on fact. Braun escape possible but unlikely. 6 out of 10. Not the best episode.
