NBC’s trio of “Chicago” dramas ticked down in the TV ratings last night, but there’s no need to call the police, the fire brigade or an ambulance quite yet.
“Chicago Med,” “Fire” and “P.D.” were still the top three shows on the night, scoring a 1.1, a 1.1 and a 1.0 rating respectively among adults 18-49. Each was down by around a 0.1 ratings point. However, all three retained almost exactly the same total viewership week-to-week.
ABC and CBS tied for second on the night behind NBC, with the Disney-owned network seeing small boosts for “The Goldbergs” and “Schooled.” “Goldbergs” came in at a 0.8 rating and 4 million viewers, up from 3.5 million last episode. Meanwhile “Schooled” hopped from a 0.6 rating to a 0.7 and drew just under 3 million viewers. “Modern Family” ticked down again a fraction to a 0.8 rating and 3.5 million viewers, which is just over half the rating and viewership it scored...

Well, that argument’s settled: Ken Jennings may now be hailed as the best “Jeopardy!” player in history, having earned the coveted Goat title – and a cool million dollars, to boot – this week after defeating James Holzhauer and Brad Rutter at the show’s “Jeopardy! The Greatest of All Time” multi-part tournament. But their spectacular matchup almost never happened at all.
The way Jennings tells it, “Jeopardy!” producers had called him up last fall, not too long after Holzhauer’s 32-game run on the show ended, in an attempt to entice him back to the buzzer. They angled for a tournament ahead of Christmas. He was resistant.
“This is the part of the story that makes me look like an idiot,” says Jennings with a laugh. “I’d suspected this would be coming down the pipe one of these years. After James made such a splash, I knew people were...

Part 4 of ABC’s “Jeopardy! The Greatest of All Time” ticked down 12% from the previous part, but still put up big TV ratings numbers on Tuesday night.
The quizzing showdown, which saw Ken Jennings emerge victorious over Brad Rutter and recent favorite James Holzhauer, scored a 1.9 rating among adults 18-49 and drew 13.5 million total viewers, compared to the 15.4 million who tuned in to part 3. Those numbers represent the lowest for any of the tournament’s four parts, but still comfortably top the nearest competitor, “NCIS,” by 3.5 million viewers and almost a whole ratings point.
“Mixed-ish” also dipped from a season high last week, coming in at a 0.7 and 3.7 million viewers. “Black-ish” also suffered from the weaker lead-in from “Jeopardy!,” falling to a 0.5 and 2.4 million viewers, down from a 0.8 and 3.2 million last week. “Emergence” capped off the night with a 0.3 and 2.1 million viewers, a series low in both metrics to date.

The finale of ABC’s “Jeopardy! Greatest of All Time” was by far Tuesday’s top show — but didn’t give ABC enough of a boost to overtake NBC as the top network in primetime, according to Nielsen.
Meanwhile, The CW came in close behind Fox and Spanish-language broadcast network Univision in the key demo rankings, airing the continuation its “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover, which included the first episode of Season 5 of “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.”

Hosted by Alex Trebek, the television event brought together the three biggest money winners in the long-running game show’s history: James Holzhauer, Jennings and Brad Rutter to compete in a series of matches for a grand prize of $1 million dollars and the title of “Jeopardy! If Ken Jennings wins tonight’s game of “Jeopardy! The Greatest of All Time,” the tournament will be over. ABC likely hopes that doesn’t happen.
Through three rounds of intense quizzing between Jennings, Brad Rutter and recent favorite James Holzhauer, “Jeopardy! The Greatest of All Time” has not only provided a platform for an outpouring of affection toward host Alex Trebek, who was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in March 2019, but also a massive ratings boost for ABC.
The first installment kicked things off with 14.4 million total viewers and a 2.4 rating in the key 18-49 demographic, before episode 2 grew 3.5% to 14.9 million viewers, and episode 3 saw a similar jump to 15.5 million viewers. Those numbers represent the second, third and fourth biggest totals for any broadcast so far this season, behind only the Golden Globes which drew 18.3 million viewers earlier this month. For comparison, ABC’s two other big events so far this season,...

Before “Jeopardy!’s” current “The Greatest of All Time” tournament began, I was firmly against it. To be frank, the idea bummed me out; “Jeopardy!,” at its best, strikes me as a profoundly democratic show, one whose appeal is or was its rewarding random folks for their trivia prowess. The elimination of the five-night limit allowed certain dominant contestants to develop seemingly insurmountable advantages in the way of experience and confidence, making the show feel grimly uncompetitive; the institution of a sort of star system, bringing back past favorites over and above simply the Tournament of Champions, developed a sense that certain among “Jeopardy!’s” past performers were not just more successful but themselves more important to the show’s ongoing success than others, a jarring way to present a show on which the trivia is really the star. I was biased, as a former “Jeopardy!” contestant who had not...

Ratings success was touted this morning for a long-running game show and a brand new series from a veteran hit producer.
Jeopardy! is riding high on the momentum of its Greatest Of All Time tournament, bringing together three of its past champions in a battle of the best. So far, the show has proved a hit, with Night 1 of the tournament drawing 16.1 million viewers, per Nielsen, making it the No. 2 ranked non-sports telecast of this year, trailing only last week’s Golden Globes Awards.
The results, based on National Live + 3 Day Program Ratings, saw Night 1 score a 2.7/13 among adults 18-49 after three days of playback. It was easily the No. 1 program of Tuesday. Excluding only Game 6 of Fox’s 2019 World Series, Jeopardy! The Greatest of All Time stood as the most-watched Tuesday telecast of the season, drawing a larger audience than every telecast of CBS’s NCIS and NBC’s This Is Us.

Through its first three airings on ABC, Jeopardy: The Greatest of All Time is averaging close to 15 million viewers in same-day ratings.

The Greatest of All Time,” the three biggest earners in the history of the game show continued their primetime battle for the title of ultimate champion: Brad Rutter, Ken Jennings and James Holzhauer. On the line? A $1 million grand prize for the first player to win three nights. The other two guys will walk away with $250,000 apiece, which also isn’t too shabby.
As it turns out, the second Final Jeopardy question on Thursday night was something right up Gold Derby’s alley. It all came down to the category of “21st Century Oscar Winners,” with the answer reading as follows: “These 2 foreign-born directors have each won 2 Best Director Oscars, but none of their films has won Best Picture.”

All three players answered incorrectly, which we totally understand as this isn’t necessarily common knowledge.

Ken Jennings secured a second win during Thursday night’s third round of ABC’s “Jeopardy! Greatest of All Time,” establishing himself as the front-runner in the multi-night event that pits him against James Holzhauer and Brad Rutter to settle once and for all which “Jeopardy!” champion is truly the greatest.
If he wins the next game, Jennings will take the title and the $1 million prize money. Jennings previously won the opening round on Tuesday, while Holzhauer won round two.
As the competition goes on, TheWrap will update each night’s winners and how many games away they are from winning. The tournament is set to air Tuesday through Friday until one competitor wins three games, and could go on through Jan. 16.

America’s iconic trivia show Jeopardy! topped ratings in primetime for a second night in a row. The Jeopardy!: The Greatest of All Time special featuring all-star champs James Holzhauer, Ken Jennings and Brad Rutter ticked down a tenth from Tuesday’s debut, but that didn’t stop it from dominating with a 2.3 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic and 14.82 million viewers.
Modern Family benefited the Jeopardy! lead-in and returned from the holiday break with its best rating in 16 months and biggest viewership in more than two years. Also returning was Single Parents, which also saw its best numbers. Stumptown returned steady.
NBC saw the return of the Chicago franchise, and there was a one-tenth slip in ratings across the board from the fall finales of Chicago Med, Chicago Fire (1.1 7.91M) and Chicago P.D.. The trio had high viewerships for the evening behind Jeopardy!

Part 2 of ABC’s “Jeopardy! The Greatest of All Time” built on the strong performance from part 1 to comfortably win the Wednesday night TV ratings race.
The quiz show, which is pitting three of the greatest contestants to have ever played against each other, drew 14.8 million total viewers, up from 14 million on Tuesday night. Its 2.3 rating among adults 18-49 was down fractionally from part 1, but still represented by far the highest rating on the night.
The “Jeopardy!” success helped lift “Modern Family” to a two-year viewership high in the 9 p.m. time slot. The comedy, which is in its final season, drew 6.4 million viewers and a 1.5 rating. Later on, “Single Parents” came in at a 0.9 and 3.4 million viewers, followed by “Stumptown” with a 0.5 and 2.7 million viewers.
NBC came second on the night behind ABC, thanks to its ever-reliable “Chicago Trifecta,” as “Med” and “Fire” both scored a 1.1, followed by “P.

Night 2 of ABC’s primetime Jeopardy! The Greatest of All Time tournament delivered 14.8 million total viewers and a 2.3 rating, adding a few viewers from its premiere while down just a tenth in the demo — and of course dominating Wednesday in both measures.
Leading out of that, Modern Family (6.4 mil/1.5) drew its biggest audience in two-plus years and its best demo number in 16 months. Single Parents (3.4 mil/0.9) similarly hit its best numbers in over a year, while Stumptown (2.7 mil/0.5)… returned steady.

Longtime “Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek, who last year announced that he had been diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer, said at the Television Critics Assn. winter press tour that he doesn’t expect to retire anytime soon.
“I don’t foresee that 30-second moment coming up in the near future,” he said on stage, referring to his recent comments that he would end his last taping with space for 30 seconds to say his goodbyes.
“Now, thinking about retiring and retiring are two different things,” said Trebek, recalling the headline flurry prompted by a reporter asking him some years ago if he was considering retirement. “As long as I feel my skills have not diminished too much, and as long as I enjoy spending time with people like these three and working with people like Harry and our creative writing staff, then I’ll continue doing it.”

“Jeopardy! The Greatest of All Time” did better than great for ABC during Tuesday’s primetime: The multi-night event series premiered to a 2.4 rating in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and 14.367 million total viewers, according to Live + Same Day data from Nielsen. And while the stats for the Alex Trebek-hosted special’s premiere are by no means the G.O.A.T. for ABC — which is dealing with the same continuous decline in TV ratings that every other network has seen in recent years — they are certainly great. But just how great are we talking here? Jeopardy! The Greatest of All Time is a hit for ABC.
The special series which brings back the greatest contestants of all-time for another competition kicked off with 14.4 million total viewers and a 2.4 rating among adults 18-49.
That was enough to lead the night in both metrics.
We already knew the series was a hit in daytime, and the added benefit of including some of the most popular players to date resonated with viewers.
Will it be able to keep up the pace? Time will tell.
The improved lead-in helped prop up mixed-ish, which garnered 4.8 million total viewers and a 1.1 rating.
black-ish followed with 3.2 million viewers and a 0.8 rating, while Emergence remained a disappointment with 2.3 million viewers and a 0.5 rating.
Over on CBS, the conclusion of the Ziva return arc on NCIS (10.3 million/1.0 rating) was down in viewers, but steady in the demo.
Conversely, FBI (9.3 million/0.9 rating) popped, rising to its bst audience since October,...

NBC’s new musical drama “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist” didn’t have an extraordinary (early) start on NBC Tuesday, according to Nielsen.
Following the season premiere of “Ellen’s Game of Games,” the Jane Levy-led series aired its first episode at 10 p.m. last night, which was marketed as a “preview” broadcast for the new show. The Paul Feig-produced drama will have its official series premiere Sunday, Feb. 16 at 8 p.m. and remain in that time slot moving forward.
Meanwhile, the debut of CBS’ “FBI” spinoff “FBI: Most Wanted” landed the largest audience for any new series this season and the premiere of “Jeopardy! The Greatest of All Time” put up some really great numbers, leading ABC to easily win the night in the key 18-49 demo.

The prompt is what show comfortably won Tuesday night’s TV ratings with a whopping 14.4 million total viewers?
What is “Jeopardy! The Greatest of All Time” would be the correct answer. The first episode of ABC’s “Jeopardy!” celebration scored a 2.4 rating among adults 18-49, more than doubling its competition on the night. That demo number is the fourth largest of the broadcast season so far, behind only the Golden Globes, “The Little Mermaid Live” and the season premiere of “The Masked Singer.” The show also beat out regular viewership champ “NCIS” on CBS by around 4 million viewers.
Speaking of CBS, the network debuted “FBI: Most Wanted” to a solid 0.8 rating and 7.2 million total viewers in the 10 p.m. time slot. That represents the largest Live+Same Day viewership for any scripted series debut so far this season. “NCIS” kicked off the night with a 1.0 and 10.3 million viewers, while “FBI...

“Jeopardy!” fans, James Holzhauer and Ken Jennings are, no doubt, two names you won’t soon forget, since, collectively, they’ve won more than $6 million on the quiz show. But who is Brad Rutter, the third contestant in the epic battle for the title of “Jeopardy! Greatest of All Time“? Fact is, he’s the one person who has won more money on the show than both of them.
Rutter is the man to beat if Holzhauer and Jennings are looking to nab that “greatest” title.
Holzhauer, the trivia-wizard who swept up a 32-day winnings streak last season, and Jennings, the record-holder for highest winnings in regular-season play and most games won overall, will be facing-off with Rutter in ABC’s multi-night competition starting Jan. 7, and keep going until one of them wins three games.
