Running for more than 60 years, Doctor Who has gone through many different changes, and the change of actors is one of them. The Doctor's ability to change his face was written into the show's premise as a process of regeneration that takes the place of death. Then it was just a matter of casting the best possible Doctor.
From Christopher Eccleston to Jodie Whittaker, every single version of the Doctor has been amazing and has its own fanbase. However, the fandom is always left wondering who will be the next Doctor, and if there is even a possibility for the next Doctor to come.
How Many Regenerations Does the Doctor Have?
Even though Doctor Who is set in the universe where anything is possible, fans still try to make sense of its rules. At least when those rules affect the titular character himself, as regeneration does. For some time, fans...

The BBC has announced that Empire Of Light, the finale of this year’s series of Doctor Who, will be streamed to cinemas, along with preceding episode The Legend Of Ruby Sunday, courtesy of CinemaLive.
Showrunner Russell T Davies previously teased the finale of season one by saying “this is a great big rip-roaring finale with the Doctor, Ruby and friends old and new fighting the greatest enemy of their lives.

Since the moment it was revealed that Disney was considering acquiring 20th Century Fox, Marvel fans have been imagining the X-Men joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The one fatal mistake that most TV shows make is using TV cameos gratuitously. If the cameo doesn't mean something to the audience and the characters in the show, it's pointless, and little more than a random Stan Lee Appears gag.
On the other hand, too many shows have fallen into the trap of celebrity worship with their cameos.
Having cast members gawk and gape at their celebrity crush as if to reinforce the celebrity's prestige while doing nothing for the universe we enjoy is a waste of talent.
For this list of the top TV cameos worth celebrating, we will focus on iconic cameo appearances that gave the show some unforgettable moments that made TV history.

What better way to give Seinfeld the better ending many feel it deserved than by bringing back the cast and the original set and doing a bit of self-parody?...

Jessica Gunning is having a moment.
The veteran actress has earned raves for playing unhinged stalker Martha in Netflix’s critically acclaimed limited series Baby Reindeer opposite Richard Gadd. It’s a part she’s embracing as the role of a lifetime, but she’s no overnight sensation. West Yorkshire native Gunning, 38, has been acting ever since graduating from drama school at London’s Rose Bruford College with a long list of credits that includes Doctor Who, White Heat, The Outlaws and Pride.
Baby Reindeer, created by and starring Gadd as inspired by his traumatic real life experiences, casts him as Donny Dunn, a struggling comedian who encounters a lonely woman at the bar where he works. Doctor Who has maintained an ardent fan following over the years since the 60s. The dazzling mix of sci-fi elements and the genius comedic touches intrigued audiences with its every incarnation. While the original broadcast of Doctor Who ran for 26 seasons from 1963 to 1989, a modern revival was done in 2005 and the series has been going strong ever since.

One of the things that makes Doctor Who so popular with British audiences, and now just as popular in the US, is the way each generation has its own Doctor to look back on. Although the show has been popular in the UK for decades, it only arrived in America at the beginning of the 11th Doctor era, but has seen quite a few Doctors since then.
Of course, it's expected that every single person who steps into the Tardis and embarks on the intergalactic adventure of a lifetime will be inspired by someone who's already been the Doctor. Millie Gibson, for example, the Doctor's most recent companion, has scored some points with viewers by naming her in-universe role model.

Warning: spoilers for Doctor Who episode “The Devil’s Chord”.
Just before Doctor Who baddie the Toymaker was defeated, bound with salt, and imprisoned in a deep, deep vault at the end of 2023 episode “The Giggle”, he issued a threat. “My legions are coming,” he told the Doctor(s).
Well, now the Toymaker’s legions are here.
First, the Christmas special saw a galleon of baby-eating goblins fly in to cause coincidence-based-mischief in “The Church on Ruby Road“. Next, the Toymaker’s offspring Maestro put the willies up the Doctor by wreaking havoc in “The Devil’s Chord”. “That thing must be part of the Pantheon,” the Doctor said about Maestro. “Oh, God.”

This Doctor Who article contains spoilers.
From 1963 to 2020, the title character of Doctor Who belonged to an alien species from Gallifrey, generally known as Time Lords. Throughout the wibbly-wobbly Who canon, not all Gallifreyans are Time Lords, but all Time Lords were certainly two-hearted Gallifreyans, and the Doctor was always both. That is, until they weren’t. In the 2020 Thirteenth Doctor (Jodie Whittaker) episode “The Timeless Children,” it was revealed that the Doctor was actually the first Time Lord, and that the ability to regenerate was harvested from them, and then integrated into Time Lord culture. Basically, the Doctor was still a Time Lord, but the actual background of the originating species they hailed from, became a retroactive mystery.
And now, in the 2024 Doctor Who “season one” the newly bi-generated Fifteenth Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) is mentioning this new canon a lot. Here’s how Doctor Who is honoring this controversial continuity change,...

It's been a long time coming, but Doctor Who is finally back!
Doctor Who Season 1 Episode 1 was intended to be a soft reboot of the iconic British series as it launches to worldwide audiences on Disney+. It was a pilot episode that felt connected to the past, especially to the classic Doctor Who episodes that aired in the 1970s.
It also connected to the first reboot in 2005 but shed one crucial element: the Doctor is no longer depressed and brooding about his people's deaths.
Ncuti Gatwa's Doctor Has More in Common With Tom Baker Than With Most of the Modern Doctors
The Doctor was initially conceived as an enigmatic alien who chose to travel the universe in search of fun and excitement and help for beings in need.

“Doctor Who’s” Ncuti Gatwa just faced off against the franchise’s wackiest, most over-the-top villain yet. And that was before they started singing.
Enter “RuPaul’s Drag Race” superstar Jinkx Monsoon as Maestro.
Those familiar with Monsoon’s game wouldn’t expect anything else from her: the beloved two-time “Drag Race” winner is currently taking Broadway by storm, wowing audiences as Audrey in “Little Shop of Horrors” opposite Corbin Bleu. This summer, she will return to “Chicago,” reprising her role as Mama Morton after she became the cast’s first drag performer in 2023.
And she’s not done dreaming big — Monsoon’s still got her sights set on becoming a Disney Villain one day. “I’m available! People know how to get in contact with me. I got a great laugh, and I can sing. I was raised by Ursula the sea witch,” she says.

Disney and the BBC really don’t want any spoilers revealed for today’s debut of the latest season of Doctor Who. Fair enough, but I’m here to tell you that you will hear some of the worst music ever in these opening episodes of Ncuti Gatwa’s hopefully long run as the famed Time Lord.

MCU has quite a lot of projects to release in 2024, 2025, and beyond. We know that there are several movies being worked on currently and affected by the strikes, but none of them are as anticipated as ‘Avengers 5’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ which are expected to continue MCU’s tradition of majestic crossovers.
Since the movie is a long time away from being released, there’s not much information about it except for the supposed release date, still we gathered all the rumors in one place and decided to present you with this neat guide.
‘Avengers: Secrets Wars’ is heavily rumored to reboot the current MCU
The sixth Avengers title draws inspiration from the ‘Secret Wars’ comic storylines released in 1984 and 2015, particularly the latter, which focused more on the multiverse. In the MCU, hints from Kang in “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” suggest a similar multiversal conflict, mirroring the storyline where two universes clash,...

The Guinness World Records once listed the BBC’s Doctor Who as the “most successful Science Fiction television series in the world,” and, in November 2023, the show turned an impressive 60 years old. Doctor Who originally ran from 1963 to 1989 and was relaunched in 2005.
Despite its grand age, it’s not demonstrating any signs of slowing down.
Former showrunner Russell T Davies (fresh from his success with It’s A Sin) returns to the franchise following last year’s Christmas specials with fan-favorites David Tennant and Catherine Tate. With the 14th season — which, for the first time ever, will premiere simultaneously worldwide thanks to Disney+ (on Friday at 7 p.m.) — Ncuti Gatwa (Sex Education and Barbie) officially becomes the newest incarnation of the errant Time Lord.
But, what about those who have already played the role of The Doctor (a.k.a. Doctor Who) over the past seven decades? Below is your 101 to all of the lead actors.

It’s my obligatory caveat that I am not a Doctor Who “fan,” per se. I’m much more Who-curious.
While I was traumatized by Tom Baker’s Doctor in childhood, I’ve happily sampled the introduction of each new Doctor since the Christopher Eccleston reboot in 2005. After two or three episodes, I tend to tune out, checking back in at key or particularly acclaimed installments. For those keeping score, David Tennant’s Doctor was the one I watched the most of in total, though I stuck with Matt Smith for the longest in the beginning (Karen Gillan’s Amy Pond was responsible for a lot of that). Peter Capaldi, probably the Doctor I was most excited for based on previous credits, did the least for me.

A new chapter in Doctor Who canon history began with the first full episode of the Fifteenth Doctor’s adventures “The Church on Ruby Road.” Series 14 opener “Space Babies” takes the Doctor and Ruby’s travels to the distant future. The adventures that follow will also feature trips to the Swinging ’60s, to the Regency Era, and to faraway planets.
While there will be moments of dancing, sightseeing, and meeting new people and beings, there will also be moments of danger. Whether from villains upset that their plans for domination are being challenged, or from extremes in the environment, there are plenty of things to trigger the Doctor and Ruby Sunday’s fight-or-flight instinct.
Den of Geek interviewed Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson about their character traits, what the Doctor and companion Ruby are most afraid of this season, and the importance of opening the Tardis door to everyone.

No television franchise sees changes like Doctor Who, but high turnover can be overrated when you’ve built a world as rich as this one. Our first glimpse of Series 14 and the Fifteenth Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) came at the end of the Christmas specials in 2023. Gatwa came out the gate blazing and established himself as a fun-loving doctor, breaking the mold in terms of performance and style for the iconic character. Of course, Gatwa has already broken barriers as the first black and openly queer Doctor. On top of his groundbreaking aspects, the pure energy and charisma Gatwa’s brought to the role already makes it feel like we’ve hit the jackpot.
Doctor Who Series 14 Plot
The new Doctor begins noticing strange accidents throughout London. As he investigates, he meets a young woman – Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson). Abandoned at a Church as a baby, Ruby wants to know about her birth parents.

Hugh Jackman will be making his comeback as Wolverine in this year’s only MCU release, Deadpool & Wolverine. The actor last essayed the role in 2017’s Logan, which saw Wolverine die after being the last X-Man in a post-apocalyptic future. However, this time around, the portrayal is a little different, as Hugh Jackman will be essaying the role for the first time in a comic-accurate costume.
Hugh Jackman in Deadpool & Wolverine
The comic-accurate costume was almost teased in 2013’s The Wolverine, in a deleted scene that did not make it in the final cut. However, the costume has finally made its way to the live-action space. Hugh Jackman sat down to talk with Empire about his experience with the costume, which might have been a tad bit too similar to what the fans experienced the first time they saw the costume.

X-Men ’97 once again hinted at an established Marvel concept, that of fixed points in timelines, famously dubbed as canon events in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. These points in time are usually events that cannot be undone no matter what and are destined to occur across timelines. If the X-Men ’97 universe indeed exists in the same multiverse as the MCU, it is possible that the show could have hinted at the thing event that Wolverine failed to save his world in Deadpool & Wolverine.

The Jesus story wasn't as bad as it could have been.
Spoilers for The Good Doctor Season 7 Episode 7 made it seem like this would be a ridiculous story, but by halfway through the hour, "Jesus" had been cured of his delusions and was struggling with feelings of inadequacy.
That was utterly on-brand for The Good Doctor, yet entirely unpredictable. Well played!
Most stories of this nature follow a pattern in which something miraculous happens to make the skeptics and non-believers wonder whether they've encountered the Son of God after all.
Thankfully, The Good Doctor didn't use that tired TV trope. Instead, Jesus' story turned into a tale about a guy who felt so insignificant that he convinced himself he was Jesus to feel like he mattered in this world.
Many people are walking around like that, desperate for someone to notice them so they can prove to themselves they're not invisible.

For 50 issues, lasting from 2012 to 2016, the Bubble Comics comic book series Major Grom, which was created by Artyom Gabrelyanov and Evgeny Fedotov, told readers stories about Igor Grom, a police major in the city of Saint Petersburg, who is – according to Wikipedia – “known for his uncompromising attitude to crime, his honesty and integrity, as well as his detective abilities and hand-to-hand combat skills.” Soon after the comic book finished its 50 issue run, a 29 minute Major Grom short was released into the world, and that paved the way for the production of a Major Grom feature film, Major Grom: Plague Doctor, which was released in 2021 and was “a loose adaptation of the first story arc of the comic series, telling the story of the confrontation between police major Igor Grom and the vigilante murderer known as Plague Doctor.” The sequel Major Grom: The Game is set to be released on May 23rd,...

Doctor Who is one of the most successful timeless tales. Despite existing for almost two decades, it still has no intention of slowing down anytime soon, with the next doctor in the saga being Ncuti Gatwa. But times are changing, and the casting of Gatwa as the core doctor marks a significant milestone for the franchise because the actor is the first openly queer Black actor to take on the role.
The Doctor Who saga.
However, instead of letting it stay as a milestone for the saga, the Rwandan-Scottish actor has been caught making one too many controversial statements regarding “racism,” which have unarguably enraged even the viewers and die-hard fans of the franchise. In fact, the most recent comment from Gatwa is a bit too contentious, and could just end up coming back to haunt the show later on.

The collaboration between the merc with a mouth and the clawed crusader has to work hard to mashup the alternate realities, but it could open portals to a lot of multiversal fun
It is somewhat ironic that just when the Marvel Cinematic Universe is entering its most intriguing phase, with the introduction of the multiverse and superheroes jetting in from all sorts of weird and wonderful corners of the Hollywood studio system, it has also begun to deliver its biggest duds. Chloé Zhao’s Eternals and Nia DaCosta’s The Marvels, Peyton Reed’s Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania all seemed dull and listless compared to the endlessly colourful and imaginative episodes that populated the comic book macro-saga’s earlier phases.

Doctor Who star Ncuti Gatwa is getting candid about his battle with acceptance.
The actor, who has faced backlash for his role as the hit show’s first Black lead, recently opened up in an interview with Attitude magazine about what he’s learned over the years regarding what he deserves in life.
“We’re trained to be like, ‘If I’m not exceptional, I won’t be loved.’ Certainly, I think that was my thing,” Gatwa shared. “So, yeah, I think I’m just learning now like, ‘Oh, you are allowed to be loved.’ You don’t have to be excellent or aspire to that term, ‘Black excellence’. What the hell?”
He continued, “There’s so much white mediocrity that gets celebrated, and Black people, we have to be absolutely flawless to get half of [that] anyway. So, I’m slowly training myself out of that and being like, ‘No shit.

First, apologies if this violates Den of Geek’s house style guidelines, but Lol. Lol at everyone who thought that Russell T Davies would return to Doctor Who as the avenging angel of ‘The Fans’, riding in and heroically retconning out all the plot points they had been complaining about for the last four years.
Davies has announced he has no plans to retcon Chris Chibnall’s controversial, canon-shaking Timeless Child plot twist, which revealed that the Doctor is no child of Gallifrey, but a foundling discovered at the mouth of a dimensional rift from universes unknown. Neither is he going to let that twist simply sit in the Doctor’s backstory, present but unacknowledged, alongside other inconvenient facts like the Moon being an egg, Earth’s forests spontaneously multiplying to help burn off solar flares, and the Doctor being best mates with Winston Churchill.
No, instead Davies has said...

Now, Davies is saying that not only will the new series work with the Timeless Child concept, it’s the backbone of the new story.
Davies is summarised in Entertainment Weekly as saying that much of companion Ruby Sunday’s arc was inspired by the Timeless Child plot point. In series 14, both Ruby and the Doctor will be curious about their origins and their similar histories as foundlings will loom large. “That story’s going to be the spine of the whole show,” Davies told EW.

Known for breaking character and cracking up Saturday Night Live cast members in his previous two hosting stints on the NBC sketch program, Ryan Gosling stayed true to himself tonight, laughing in every skit he was in, much to the delight of the studio audience, and challenging his co-stars to keep a straight face — even seasoned veterans like Kenan Thompson.
The tone was set in the cold open, reuniting Gosling and Kate McKinnon for a third Close Encounters sketch, in which host Gosling could not stop laughing as McKinnon was demonstrating how aliens observed Gosling character’s private parts close and personal during their alleged abduction. The more companions, the merrier!
Varada Sethu has officially joined “Doctor Who” Season 2 as the new companion of Ncuti Gatwa’s Doctor — but she won’t be replacing current companion Millie Gibson, as previously reported.
In January, rumors swirled that Gibson, who made her debut as companion Ruby Sunday in the sci-fi show’s Christmas special, would not be returning for Season 2 after Gatwa was spotted filming with Sethu. However, it seems the three will take on time and space together in the second season, which is currently in production and slated to debut in 2025 on Disney+ worldwide and on the BBC in the U.K.
Sethu is best known for her role as Cinta Kaz in Disney+’s “Star Wars” spinoff “Andor.” She has also appeared in “Jurassic World Dominion,” “Annika” and “Strike Back.”
“I feel like the luckiest person in the world. It is such an honor to...

As Tuesday’s episode opens, a mournful and ailing Toranaga leads a procession on horseback following Nagakado’s undignified demise. The other lords will allow Toranaga to grieve his son for 49 days before escorting him to Osaka, but Blackthorne is still itching for battle: “At least Nagakado-san died fighting,” he mutters to Mariko. The View’s Tuesday broadcast was one co-host short of a full panel.
At the top of the hour, just Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farah Griffin sat at the show’s Hot Topics table, with Sara Haines clearly M.I.A. (She did, however, appear on Monday’s installment.) So why was Haines absent from the show? Goldberg answered that question at the top of the second segment.

US BritBox recently debuted the second season of Jimmy McGovern‘s anthology prison drama Time, set in a women’s facility. The new story features three women facing punishment for various offenses with a focus on how the British prison system is set up to fail the women it is supposed to reform.
Viewers throughout three episodes follow the stories of Orla (Jodie Whittaker), a single mom who is suddenly thrown into prison for a minor offense, Abby (Tamara Lawrence) who is serving a life sentence for murder, and Kelsey (Bella Ramsey) who is charged with drug trafficking while facing addiction and pregnancy.
Den of Geek spoke to Jodie Whittaker about how Orla’s struggles differ wildly from the trials of a Time Lord and about the Doctor Who moment of which she feels proudest.
