The making of "Chinatown"
Rodrigo_Amaro30 July 2014
This is one of the three documentaries included in the "Chinatown" special edition DVD, all of them includes interviews with Jack Nicholson, Roman Polanski, Robert Towne and Robert Evans, the fabulous team behind the masterpiece we all love. In this one, the quartet reveal how they became part of the project that surpassed their own expectations and end up being one of the greatest films ever made.

Most of the stories presented can be verified in the trivia entry for the movie on this site, which includes the funny heated argument between Polanski and Nicholson during filming when the director smashed someone's television because Jack interrupted filming to watch a basketball game on TV. A serious matter at the time but now a funny moment they proudly share with us. Aspects of production, casting and more are discussed with enthusiasm but all of the involved (I wonder why Robert Evans chair had to be put in that way, it was odd seeing him talking to the interviewer with half of his face appearing).

Nothing new in terms of how those materials are made, but it's highly informative and interesting to follow anyway. 9/10
