Prime Video has released the first photos from My Lady Jane, the quick-witted romantic new series set in an alt-fantasy Tudor world. The series will premiere exclusively on Prime Video on Thursday, June 27, in more than 240 countries and territories around the world.
Inspired by the best-selling book, My Lady Jane is a radical retelling of English royal history, in which King Henry VIII’s son Edward does not die of tuberculosis, Lady Jane Grey is not beheaded, and neither is her rascal of a husband, Guildford.
At the center of this rollicking new series is the brilliant and headstrong Jane, who is unexpectedly crowned queen overnight and finds herself the target of nefarious villains coming for the crown (and her head)… My Lady Jane is an epic tale of true love and high adventure, where the damsel in distress saves herself, her true love, and then the Kingdom.

Olivia Colman’s impressive range as an actress seems to know no bounds. A favorite in the UK for her television work in such sitcoms as “The Office” and “Fleabag,” TV audiences also lauded her for her dramatic performances in “Broadchurch” and “The Night Manager,” as well as more recently with “The Crown” and “Landscapers.” But it has been her estimable work in films that continues to bring her international renown.
With such acclaim from audiences, it was inevitable that awards would begin coming her way. She took home the Oscar for Best Actress for “The Favourite” (2018) and scored an additional Best Supporting Actress nomination for “The Father” (2020). For her work in television, Colman has received four Emmy bids, winning for “The Crown.” She also claimed Golden Globe statues for both TV (“The Night Manager” and “The Crown”) and film (“The Favourite”). Lena Dunham and her husband Luis Felber have co-created a romantic comedy series titled “Too Much” for Netflix. Megan Stalter and Will Sharpe are set to star.
“Too Much” follows Jessica (Stalter), a New York workaholic in her mid-30s who is reeling from a broken relationship that she thought would last forever and slowly isolating everyone she knows. When every block in New York tells a story of her own bad behavior, the only solution is to take a job in London, where she plans to live a life of solitude like a Brontë sister. But when she meets Felix (Sharpe) — who is less Hugh Grant in “Notting Hill” and more Hugh Grant’s drunken roommate — she finds that their unusual connection is impossible to ignore, even as it creates more problems than it solves. Now they have to ask themselves: Do Americans and Brits actually speak the same language?...

Oscar winner Olivia Colman is set to star as a fisherwoman and Dev Patel as her inanimate made-to-order husband in the twisted romance pic Wicker.
Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson will direct the indie from a script they adapted based on a short story, The Wicker Husband, by Ursula Wills-Jones. Topic Studios and Tango will finance and produce Wicker, with the cameras set to start rolling next year.
Colman will play a smelly and ridiculed fisherwoman in a seaside village where, fed up with small-minded neighbors, she commissions herself a husband to be made from wicker, who is played by Patel. In an otherwise conservative town, their unconventional romance sparks outrage, jealousy and chaos, the producers say in their film synopsis.
Black Bear will open international sales for Wicker in the American Film Market, while CAA Media Finance and UTA Independent Film Group will handle sales on the U.

When it comes to assembling the quintessential ensemble cast for a series, it’s an art, not a science; an organic melding of faces and emotional forces. No more was this important than in the high stakes second season of HBO’s drama series White Lotus in which we’re pulled into the posh, sexy allure of those upper-class denizens on vacation only to relish in their deceitful sides and hijinks, warts and all. The series not only propelled fresh faces to the forefront such as Natasha Rothwell in season one, whose Hawaiian White Lotus resort spa manager is returning for the Eastern religion and spirituality set season 3, but it’s also shown a fresh, dynamic range of actors we’ve seen previously, i.e. Jennifer Coolidge and Alexandra Daddario among several others.

Critical and smothering Chong-mi and creative and independent Michelle struggle to understand each other across a cultural fault line, only learning to see and accept one another through the formative power of music and the vibrant flavors of Korean cooking.”

Traditionally, January and February are the dumping ground for major Hollywood studios. With awards season in full swing and audiences playing catchup on the biggest titles of the prior year, the first two months are usually the perfect place for dropping projects that don't inspire much confidence. But the rise of streaming is slowly changing that trend. Less concerned about the box office and much more obsessed with keeping their release schedules consistent, streamers like Netflix make sure to always have exciting new titles lined up, dump months be damned. So expect another full slate on the streamer as we enter February. Just because it's the shortest month of the year, doesn't mean we can't still have plenty of fun!
Below is a list (and some curated standout titles) of everything coming to Netflix in February 2023.

To everyone who has been patiently waiting week-to-week for the next episode of The White Lotus’ second season to drop and get their fill of decadence, deception and discontent among filthy rich holidaymakers, Will Sharpe is Ethan, the subdued and recently minted millionaire.
On a luxurious vacation in an awkward quartet alongside his fun-zapping wife Harper (Aubrey Plaza), morally questionable and arrogant college friend Cameron (Theo James), and Cameron’s seemingly shallow partner Daphne (Meghann Fahy), Ethan is a character whose calm and collected persona looks increasingly like it’s about to erupt in dramatic fashion.
Outside the five-star opulence of Mike White’s multi-Emmy winning creation The White Lotus, however, the British actor/writer/director is best known for his work behind the camera, most notably a trio of eccentricity-tinged comedy dramas (all, coincidentally, starring Olivia Colman). Will Sharpe has written and directed acclaimed series such as “Landscapers” and won a BAFTA Award for his performance in “Girl/Haji,” but nothing in his career so far has prepared him for being swept up in the discourse of Mike White’s “The White Lotus.” Despite not being on social media (at least publicly), the London native is very aware of just how popular the HBO series is worldwide.

Spoiler Alert: This interview contains spoilers up to Episode 4 of “The White Lotus,” airing Sundays on HBO and streaming on HBO Max.
Think you know Ethan? Think again.
On Season 2 of “The White Lotus,” Will Sharpe plays the reserved, if not slightly awkward, tech guy who recently came into wealth and embarks on a couples getaway that turns out to be more than he bargained for.
Paired with Aubrey Plaza’s pugnacious Harper, Theo James’ haughty Cameron and Meghann Fahy’s cheery Daphne, Ethan is a bit of a straight man. But Sharpe says that’s all about to change, and audiences shouldn’t be so quick to root for him.
“Some of the characters present with immediacy, and you have a relatively full sense of them early on. But Ethan is supposed to be hard to pin down, so they leave space for you to guess,” he says as a warning.

Personal tales of hubris, ego and living large dominated the Camerimage International Film Festival, with the Florian Hoffmeister-shot drama “Tár,” directed by Todd Field, taking the top prize at the leading annual cinematography event.
The jury honored the elaborately constructed story of a brilliant, obsessive composer and conductor, played with gusto by Cate Blanchett, with its Golden Frog prize at the closing gala Saturday night in Torun, Poland.
The Silver Frog and Fipresci prize went to cinematographer Darius Khondji’s opulent, whimsical work in “Bardo, False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths,” the surreal story of a Mexican journalist and filmmaker’s reckoning with his past, directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu.

Will Sharpe is the secret ingredient. The actor-writer-director is to television what a spoonful of instant coffee is to a tasty bolognese. With his eccentric masterpiece Flowers, the “sitcom with a mental illness” that ran on Channel 4 from 2016 to 2018, he quietly wrote Oscar winner Olivia Colman one of her most brilliant – if least known – parts. In 2019, his witty, razor-tongued performance as a self-sabotaging rent boy in BBC Two’s London-Tokyo thriller Giri/Haji had fans calling for him to get his own spin-off, and won him a Bafta.
Sharpe’s writing and directing on 2021’s Landscapers – a show about a real-life killer couple, which aired on Sky Atlantic – elevated the miniseries from what, in the wrong hands, might have been sensationalist true crime, to romantic psychodrama. And in his latest project, season two of the delicious black comedy The White Lotus, Sharpe is the unsettlingly still centrepiece of a friends’ holiday from hell.

British pay-tv network Sky expects to continue its relationship with HBO “one way or the other,” as Warner Bros. Discovery’s plans to merge HBO Max and Discovery+ in Europe next year gather pace.
Sky has had HBO content output deals in place since 2014, but its ability to re-up in 2025 has been the subject of much speculation as HBO Max rolled out. The pair also entered into a co-production pact in 2019 and have made shows such as the critical hit Chernobyl and comedy Landscapers.
Warner Bros. Discovery has stopped the Max roll out ahead of plans to create a merged product and has not yet addressed its deal with the UK giant. One option could be to pull back from the deal and put its HBO shows on the platform. Deadline revealed yesterday the streamer is letting go of 29 people in Europe.

This year’s Best Movie/Limited Actress Emmy race is shaping up to be one for the record books, with a strong showing of actresses depicting real-life women in contention. Looking at Gold Derby’s combined odds, 11 of the top 15 spots are taken by performers who are playing such true-to-name nonfiction characters. If we broaden this definition to include characters who are merely inspired by living people, that number changes to 13.
Trending in the top spot, we have Amanda Seyfried portraying Theranos CEO Elizabeth Holmes in Hulu’s “The Dropout.” Television critic Lucy Mangan with The Guardian refers to Seyfried’s performance as “hugely skillful,” going on to say, “Seyfried makes it all work and keeps our attention – even our sympathy.” The actress is also riding high fresh off of her first Oscar nomination for her performance in 2020’s “Mank,” which can often boost a performer’s Emmy chances.
