Superman show we've all wanted
markq-7565424 February 2021
This show is great and besides it saying CW it is way above that level. Mind you I hate all the current CW Arrowverse shows. I liked early season of Arrow, Flash and legends. I'm also a big fan of Smallville. This show however I'd great, the production quality is great, the cinematography and action.

The drama and is very good not forced as all current CW shows. The acting is also good from the whole case. And Tyler Is an amazing Superman, he carrier the hero and inspiration of Superman as well as the struggle of being a father and husband.

Overall the show is amazing the Superman show we've all been waiting for. Definitely has a bright future and could go down as one of DC's best super hero show.

A strong pilot for a promising cw show
vicenteigg24 February 2021
Superman and Lois captures the essence of each character and develops it in a good way. Visually, this show is the best, compared to a movie? why not? Another highlight is the incorporation of Superman's children, they deal with not knowing the identity of his father and his teenage life, good point. First episode more than approved

Strong Pilot
bkjfeet24 February 2021
Just saw the pilot and it is absolutely stunning. The visuals are great, cinematography is great. The characters feel real and relatable. Tyler is inspiring as Superman (definitely up there with Reeve, Cavill, Welling and Routh). Bitsie is fantastic and plays a comic accurate Lois Lane. Jordan and Alex are fantastic as the "Superboys". The Cushing family is also very interesting. Sara and Kyle are very interesting and complicated characters. Lana is also very warm and I wonder if we will get her Superwoman arc. Walsh is fantastic as General Lane. And the suspense with The Stranger is very interesting. Can't wait for episode number 2.

More superman less CW

Everything that was about superman was good. The show really dragged when it was about the usually CW melodrama.

This is a great start packed with adventure and this new series will appeal to a broad audience

It appears the writers put an extra effort into the Superman and Lois storyline and the pilot episode is brimming with adventure. Initially it tells the story of how Clark Kent has spent the past thirty (30) plus years and now he is married and he has a family of his own. This new adventure series has introduced us to an all new cast of characters as well as some old reliable ones that seemingly broadens the series scope to appeal to a new generation of Superman fans as well as some of us older generation fans as well.

The series has not fallen far from the original concept of the 1938 original story first created by writer Jerry Siegel and artist Joe Shuster and as such they are still credited with this the latest Superman version. I believe they just improved the storyline. My only negative about the series is the producers and editors are using a blue/grey filter which seems to be the rage nowadays. I personally would prefer they remove the dull color filter and in its place provide a brighter and crisp color for the series.

Clark Kent has moved to Metropolis and he has now married the love of his life in the Daily Planet reporter Lois Lane, and they have two teenage boys Jonathan and Jordan. The pilot episode prepares us for Clark losing his father first, and when his mom falls ill he hears her voice calling out to him from Smallville "to come home Clark".

I see great potential for this the latest TV Superman and Lois adventure series. In fact with Clark and Lois now having two teenage boys of their own, what genes did these boys inherit from both their parents?

Superman the Dad.

Warning: Spoilers
When I hear "you're going to see Superman like you've never seen him before," my first instinct is to cringe, if for no other reason than the Man of Steel was done definitively back in 1978 by Richard Donner, with the indispensible help of Christopher Reeve, and no one since has met that bar. Not for want of trying though. We've seen Clark Kent/Superman in one incarnation or another many times in the years since, including the comic book, which has been rebooted and relaunched many times since. Christopher Reeve was ultimately succeeded by Brandon Routh, and then on to Henry Cavill. On TV we've seen Dean Cain and Tom Welling (technically playing Superboy) play the original Big Blue. Each had their fans, each had their detractors, some efforts more successful than others; now, the CW, which has created its own version of the DC Universe (starting with ARROW in 2012), gives us their Superman for the 2020s.

How is this show different, well it's not that Superman and Lois are married, we saw that back with LOIS AND CLARK in the '90s. This show's hook is that they are parents...of teenage boys. That's a twist right out of the CW handbook. In the course of the pilot, Clark and Lois lose their jobs at the Daily Planet, Martha Kent passes away, and they all end up moving back to farm in Smallville. There's also a mysterious super villain who is sabotaging lead lined nuclear power plants, and who happens to have a shard of Kryptonite. But the pilot episode is mainly focused on the family dynamics, as Clark Kent, a frequently absent father, must deal with his sons, who are quite different from each other, one being an outgoing jock, the other, a nerd with an anxiety disorder. Of course, neither son knows their father's true identity, at least not at first, but when one of them starts to manifest super powers himself, the secret comes out. With that, the premise of the show is set in motion, with many complications sure to come in future episodes.

This is a great looking show, rural Kansas has never looked better, or more the mythic heartland that gave us our greatest super hero. But shows based on comic books only work if they get the characters right; that's the core which must stay true no matter what other tweaks are made to the story. And on that level, SUPERMAN AND LOIS appears to be off to good start with Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch as the title couple, both being worthy successors to the actors who've played these iconic roles before. Their two boys are portrayed by Alex Garfin and Jordan Elsass, as Jordan, the moody one, and Jonathan, the outgoing twin, both show plenty of promise. Producer Greg Berlanti, who is responsible for all to the DC shows on the CW, has often been hit or miss in his adaptations of classic DC heroes, but he seems to have gotten off to good start here. This is a Superman like we've never seen him before, but it did not make me cringe.

The Greatest Superman & Lois Of All Time
THEARROWFLASH24 February 2021
There's not many words that can perfectly encapsulate what i witness tonight. But of those few that could. "Perfect" & "Breathtaking" would probably be at the top. Well, next to "Super", ofcourse.

Tonight, the whole World has entered into an era of Superman & Lois! The show is...beautiful. It understands to the most perfect tee, WHO Superman is. And ofcourse, Tyler Hoechlin is easily the Greatest Superman To Ever Exist! His acting is just absolutely phenomenal & carries this show Up, Up & Away to perfection. That's not to say any of the other cast members didn't live up to expectations. They flew past it and became instantly iconic. We have our first Jonathan Kent. Our first Jordan Kent. Our first Superman show (respect to Smallville). Our first Superman & Lois show! I can easily see this show becoming one of the Greatest Shows To Ever Exist. I mean the Pilot is already one of the best Pilot episodes of ALL Time! Oh man, my breath is still taken away at how perfect literally EVERYTHING is!

All I can say now is, Thank you ARROW, for paving the path for The ARROWVERSE. The fact that a Superman & Lois show spawned from ARROW, and not the other way around, just shows how beautiful The ARROWVERSE is! Here's to many, MANY more years of beauty, grace, kindness, love, inspiration, entertainment (and so much more) & last but not least, HOPE!

Up, Up And Away! #Superman&LoisForLife!!

Surprise, surprise
yusufpiskin24 February 2021
It rose like the sun into the CW's garbage universe. Only Superman could have rescued the CW from the slump. The casting is very good, Superman Suit selections are very good, I liked the music .. It was great to see Dylan Kingwell. Dylan, man, if you're reading this; You are loved .. I already loved the director, it was the perfect choice for the pilot episode.

Super Strong Start
leoalexanderscott28 February 2021
A really decent well written introduction story to commence this new series. I hope this promising start will continue throughout the series. Anyone wanting to watch this series will defiantly need to watch the pilot to get a grip as what is happening and understand the introduced background characters. Highly recommended. A very contemporary, and mature series with a very promising start.

Unsure
abradbury-5429326 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
What I loved about this is also what made me unsure about the first episode. It's obvious that a larger budget was dedicated to the pilot of this episode than the entirety of Supergirl and that bothers me. It's even more disturbing that they pretend as if she doesn't exist, and this is an worn-out record that I'm tired of listening it.

I get wanting to establish the series as its own, but hasn't DC learned the invaluable lesson of the strength in the universe? I could maybe look past ignoring the rest of the universe. But ignoring his cousin as it has been done in literally every single previous Superman installment? I'm over it.

A Strong Start
delgadosaul-2813924 February 2021
This is definitely off to a better start than batwoman and is very well paced and interesting. Clark and lois's dynamic is very nice, better production than most cw shows now which is another plus. I see great things in the future for this show.

Surprisingly positive...especially for the CW
marchumim10 October 2021
I am not the BIGGEST fan of modern CW programs. From Riverdale to The Flash, all of their shows I've seen so far have either been dead in the water from the beginning, or run for so long, their stories get tired to death. I really, really hope that doesn't happen with this show.

I'm not that into DC projects, but I think I'll stick around for this one. Unlike what I've seen before (Note: I've only seen the DCEU films for reference), Superman is incredibly likeable, and actually seem like, you know, a real person. Unfortunately, many of the other characters I'm not yet completely onboard with. Their sons are probably the characters with the most potential, as this series seems to be equally focused on them as it is with Superman. The side characters aren't very unique, but I mean, I might just be nitpicking.

I don't want to be too harsh on this show and nitpick every little thing just yet. I'm generally used to big budget, exclusive streaming service superhero shows, where the budget can be as large as required. But this is new for me, and I'm interested to see where it goes.

I just hope that the villains don't do that annoying trope where they just keep getting more and more overpowered, until the rules of the show need to be broken just to end the story. In other words, please don't end up like The Flash.

Wow, this was horribly written!
sarastro724 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I am a big fan of the Supergirl show and of Tyler Hoechlin as Superman - he looks and acts great. Sadly, this pilot episode was a great disappointment to me, as I hardly recognized any of the characters. Superman's MOM - who raised him and gave him his values - says, in opposition to Clark, that his family is more important than saving others?? And Lois doesn't approve of Superman putting others first, either? That's idiotic - NOBODY should be more understanding of Superman's life than her!! She would never!

And the super-sons have been kept ignorant of who their father is??? Clearly an *incredibly* bad idea that has already screwed up their lives! Superman's one son is a bit of an asshole? Holey rusted parenting, Superman! YEAH, he is a bad father! This is obviously not written by someone who's had much experience with parenting.

The sons are past puberty and haven't got any powers? Makes NO sense! Or they just haven't noticed for their entire lives that they're super-resilient? LOL! Morgan Edge is also having nefarious plans about Smallville, and the farms there in particular?? Way too much coincidence - unless of course he suspects that Kent is Superman.

Luthor is "the lone survivor of his planet"? Wut?!

I thought this was awfully, awfully written. Such a shame. :-(

Superman Flies Again
MovieFreak86-415-91253124 February 2021
It was great to see Superman and Lois Lane back on TV again. And they came back with a solid pilot. Not only is Superman and Lois back, but they also brought their kids. Not only was this a good pilot, but it also looks like it's going to be a good family drama. There is only one more thing to say... UP, UP AND AWAY!

Beautiful.

Warning: Spoilers
Wow, this Pilot was awesome, had great character development, the shots are amazing, you feel for the characters. I personally thought that this show was gonna suck when it comes to The CW. Well done, they finally found a take that we really haven't done with Superman before.

I love the reference to Action Comics #1. Hoechlin is definitely in my number two Superman below Christopher Reeve. Excellent performances, as I know Tulloch from Grimm, she did Lois Lane really damn well. Good action. I seriously need to get back to watching Supergirl as I gave up on The Bodyguard due to very horrible writing and complete nonsense. Apparently, as I did research on the ending, it's Lex Luthor from another world. I assume that Lex got killed off in the Season 5 finale? Crazy post-crisis stuff, man.

The nuclear reactor sequence was awesome to watch. Well done on the special effects instead of making it super cheap. I do like Jordan and Jonathan, great chemistry. Also, how they interact with Sarah. A promising start to a solid TV show.

10/10.

Superman & Lois honors the comic book, the pilot was both memorable and incredible
Holt34424 February 2021
Greg Berlanti and Todd Helbing developed Superman and Lois, serving as both producers and writers for the show. They have made a comic accurate Superman and I'm happy about that, a nice change from the current film Superman which I absolutely love, but it's nice to see it being comic accurate. The pilot is directed by Lee Toland Krieger and he did a great job, bringing fantastic direction and some really cool shots, he really gets the characters too and it's thanks to the writers.

Crisis of Infinite Earths rewrote history so that Clark and Lois' baby boy turned to a set of teenaged twins, so the family is much bigger and fits so much better with the show. I Tyler Hoechlin plays Clark Kent / Superman and I have to say that his performance in this episode shows so much potential, more than his appearances in Supergirl ever did, he will do the character justice and will be seen as a iconic and memorable performance in the future. Elizabeth Tulloch plays the second lead, Lois Lane. She did a fairly good job, I believe that her performance will only get better and better from here as her role in this episode was basic, but a positive thing is that she got the character right. Jordan Elsass plays Jonathan Kent which is the modest and kind-hearted son of Clark and Lois whilst Alex Garfin plays Jordan Kent which is the intelligent son of Clark and Lois who has social anxiety.

There were lots of cool shots throughout the episode, great camera work. The fight scenes were handled perfectly, with good visual and special effects. One thing that I thought was amazing and special was how they jumped timezones, from USA to another country, that was a nice addition that deserves praise. The overall writing for the episode was phenomenal, I didn't expect it to be so well written and kind of realistic. The title characters being parents and having two children really worked out perfectly.

Superman & Lois got off to a great start with an incredible pilot, it feels like the quality will be the same as Stargirl, budget wise and so on. There's so much promise in this TV series, I'm looking forward to see what they'll bring to the table.

Tyler Hoechlin is Perfect Casting. Exciting, Well-paced start...
jamericanbeauty24 February 2021
I had no doubts Tyler Hoechlin would be the perfect Superman. In the CW crossovers, he delivered. Physically, he's strikingly handsome and chiseled from face to physique and he naturally comes across as strong, brave, heroic, positive, inspiring and charismatic. Everything I've seen him in, he's got the likeability thing on lock. It was the rest of the cast and the possible CW agenda-pushing that concerned me. So far, so good. The supporting cast's acting is passable. Direction, tone, pacing and production were all great. I watched the space fight sequence seven times. Subtle signs that this might turn into another CW agenda-driven soap opera is the "unspectacular" son and his teen angst and resentment and Lois telling her Husband Clark no, he cannot go out on a Superman mission regarding a mysterious villain targeting nuclear plants. When did Lois become Superman's boss? You married Superman, not a regular 9 to 5 accountant. I'm cautiously excited for Episode 2 and beyond because CW tends to CW. The Flash and Arrow both started off great, but instead of staying DC, they went full-on CW and I stopped watching.

I wasn't expecting much but...
roberx2 March 2021
I'm not a Superman fan. I mean, I like superheros movies and series but "the character" Super has been very bad treaten in comics, movies and series. First time I saw Tyler Hoechlin i thougth he wasn't as handsome as Cavill o Reeve or had the charming of Routh but in this pilot all my previous prejudices went away. He is a human Superman, he is more Clark Kent than Kal El. I have loved the conflict, the twins, the enigmatic villain... Even that annoying Lana Lang's husband!!! If they don't mess up with 23 episodes a season and keep the direction, this is going to be the Superman movie we deserved long ago.

And... That's It?
Gislef24 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
"Pilot" wasn't a bad episode. it just seems like the title characters aren't the focus of the show. We at least get some Superman/Clark Kent. Lois is pretty back burnered. Hopefully they'll have more for Tulloch to do in the future.

Judging from the pilot episode, the series seems to be mostly about Jonathan and Jordan. And... do we need another TV show about two white male, one who is very very angsty? There's nothing new here other than the sibling back-and-forth between them. And we kind of get that with 'Stargirl'.

So the show is a bit off. 'Stargirl' is about Stargirl. 'Supergirl is about Supergirl. 'Flash' is about Flash. "Black Lightning' is about Black Lightning. And 'Superman and Lois' is about... Jonathan and Jordan?

All of the mains are good. Hoechlen is good as Superman, Although as my SO noted, we wish he'd shave. Tulloch is good: she and Hoechlin have had some time together to work on their chemistry. Elsass and Garfin are good. Everybody is good. It just seems that they're stuck in a pretty perfunctory pilot, in a pretty small-scale story. Like moving to Smallville. Isn't there a show already named 'Smallville'? Granted, 'Smallville' hasn't been on the air in 10 years. But do we really need another show that is set in a rural setting? Okay, 'Supergirl', 'Flash', and 'Black Lightning' are set in big cities. But we barely get introduced to Metropolis and then "whoosh!", away they go to Smallville. It just seems kind of small-scale, when Superman of all shows deserves something "big".

Plus 'Stargirl' is set in a small relatively American town, Blue Valley. So it's not like Berlanti and Herbling were trying to avoid repeating the big city vibe by setting "S&L' in a small town. We already got a recent DC hero in a small town. Wasn't it time to switch it up?

Other than that, "Pilot" is pretty perfunctory. We get a mysterious bad guy, and no 'Superman' show is complete without a Luthor. Even if this is a different one than the Jon Cryer version. Although 'S&L' is set in the same universe as 'Supergirl', right? And the real main leader, Jordan, gets an on-again/off-again girlfriend of sorts. And there's a local guy who burns with the heat of a half-dozen stars in his hatred for Clark.

It's not bad. But it's not that good either. Particularly since we got a lot of this just last year in 'Stargirl'.

But that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Tyler Hoechlin was in Supergirl and he was absolutely terrible from that to this it's like OMG...

They absolutely nailed this TV show let's hope they can keep it up.

Pilot
Prismark1024 February 2021
The pilot of Superman and Lois indicates a teen soap Smallville style.

With all the build up. The death of Martha Kent brings the family to Smallville.

There is a passing reference to modern day politics when Lana Lane's husband wears his Trumpian colours on his sleeve.

It is here where twins Jonathan and Jordan find out just who they are with one of them finding out that he has superpowers.

The pilot really did go as fast as the speed of light. The special effects were very good.

Although oddly no reference to the Arrowverse. Superman's cousin did not show up to Martha's funeral.

It is too early to tell if the show will concentrate more on the teenage twins. The angsty one and the happy go lucky one.

With Superman likely to be busy with the new big bad. It leaves little room for Lois.
