One of the best episodes so far
kapurkimaya9 June 2021
The twists and turns - Wow! I'm impressed. It should only get more interesting here on. I don't think I have seen this kind of storyline for Superman until now ...but then I have not read the comics so maybe that's why I don't know? Anyway, I'm really liking this show.

Probably the only good show CW has right now
xmasterjoshua10 June 2021
It's probably true by season 3 or 4 the quality would decline. But right now, Superman and Lois is actually really good! The storyline with X-Kryptonite and the involvement of Tag Harris, Morgan Edge, and John Irons are actually interesting. I was actually surprised when Lana's husband was actually fused with Krypton.

The only problems I had with this episode was that the storyline of being "normal" at school was kind of getting repetitive. Also, the fight scene at the end was obviously a green screen of Arizona.

Warning: Spoilers
This was the make-or-break episode for me. "Man of Steel" was great, but I was let down with the twist. "Holding the Wrench" could've been better. This episode needed to be good, and it was!

I'll get the one con I had out of the way right now, this show's had two well-known Superman villains turn out not to be who they were set up to be. The twist with Wole Parks playing Steel instead of Lex Luthor still bothers me weeks after the twist, and this one... I'm not sure. Admittedly, Morgan Edge is no Lex Luthor, so the bait and switch here isn't as impactful, but I can't help but feel that this is a recurring theme. Don't bait us with more Superman villains if you're going to make their identities someone else. I'm not as upset with Not Edge as I was with Not Lex, but don't think that's an excuse to keep doing it.

Aside from that, this was the best episode since the pilot. I love the family dynamic going on in this show. It's similar to Black Lightning's family dynamic during their first season in a lot of ways, but it's also distinctly different enough to not feel like a complete clone.

I enjoyed the dynamic between Sam and the family this week, and I totally get his perspective of "expect the best, prepare for the worst". It's completely understandable. However, I also understand the family's perspective of "you shouldn't expect the worst from your family". Neither side is necessarily wrong here, and that's the sign of a well written argument on a tv series. Of course, Sam ends up saving Lois and John's lives by the end of the episode, using the weapon that almost got Clark and Jordan killed no less.

I'm also enjoying seeing Jordan's powers develop. They made him learning super hearing really tense a few episodes ago, and now they're giving him ice breath to add to his skillset. I was personally expecting super speed next, but I guess that can come later, since I did forget that he had heat vision already until I started writing this portion of my review. Pretty soon, he's gonna be full Superboy, and I'm here for it. As long as the writers don't screw this up and turn him into Anissa Pierce 2.0 and make him incredibly self-righteous or anything, this can only get better. Also, the way his ice breath manifested as sneezes was a really fun way to do it. Good job on that.

It was interesting to see Clark get beaten down by bullets in this episode. I'm curious if the kryptonite poison is going to affect Clark going forward. Considering how fast John's arm healed, I'm not sure how many more episodes it will last, but it could cause Clark to gradually more and more of his powers as the season goes on, which would be pretty cool and a really good way to add tension.

I really like how Not Edge is slowly building his army, taking advantage of the vulnerable people in Smallville. It's a solidly creepy motivation, and it's being executed really well here. Plus, not just giving the people powers, but literally implanting alien sentience into people is a different take that I've never seen before. Not Edge is growing an army, and that's gonna be tough for the family to deal with. Superman can't fight off an entire army of kryptonians, and Jordan only has one-hundredth of the power Clark has, so that's a huge disadvantage.

The action scenes and visuals are consistently impressive on this show. All the scenes at the Fortress of Solitude are beautiful, and that moment at the end where Superman gets destroyed by Not Edge was also incredible. I'm very impressed.

This episode brought the show back to what it was pre-John Henry Irons, which I personally think is an improvement. I'm gonna have a chip on my shoulder about that twist for the rest of the show, but that doesn't mean that the series can't close out its first season in an impressive way. You've got six episodes left, writers. Don't screw this up.

IMO this show is truly unstoppable. It just gets better and better.

Talk about that huge twist at the end.... hours later and I'm still thinking about it. Also the moments with Lois and Clark and their sons this ep were so emotional, those moments show were the heart of the series is: the Kent family. Plus, the acting was top notch. The bank heist scene really well done, that's my Superman and the cinematography was one of the best. Next week looks intense, almost like a finale tho I know there's like 6 episodes left still. Loving this show more and more. Can't wait for next week,

This episode someone manages to give the spotlight to all the characters. Kyle reveal as a kyrpotonain was great. Great action and fight scenes. And Morgan Edge seems to be being a great villain, especially in the last minute of the episode. He has really impacted the storyline of this episode and him and Clark will have a great rivalry. Overall 9.7/10 great!

This is how you do a Superman show

I love the balance this episode and the overall series has between Superman story and Lois story. They both get equal screentime. They both shine in every scene. Jordan and Johnathan are great as always. This episode felt like a penultimate finale, but we have 6 more episodes to go. Cant wait to see what they do. So far it's been top notch.

The best episode so far...

Warning: Spoilers
With having seen all the episodes in this season so far, they've all been solid... but this takes it to another level! They balance the family drama and dynamics super well in this. I also dug the tension in the latter half of it. And I'd say the few standouts were General Lane and Kyle Cushing, both having layers under their antagonistic exterior. Especially General Lane, who just wants to do his job, by keeping the world safe, but also wants to right his wrongs, especially with Lois! And that twist at the end, WOOO!

Overall, great episode = (9.5/10)

Superman and Lois is at the top of their game, they hired the right director for the show
Holt34410 June 2021
Eric Dean Seaton directed this episode, he's a unique director who crosses genres and styles, and he uses his cinematic eye, strong sense of story and a passionate energy to create something amazing and he does that with Superman and Lois. The way he shoots the action sequences are extremely stylish and I guess some people won't lie the slo-mo shots but I like them a lot, overall great direction and camera work. It also seems like he loves the characters which in my opinion is needed.

Loyal Subjekts follows the aftermath of the previous episode, Morgan Edge have gathered his subjects to be hosts that will make them get powers from X-Kryptonite similar to Superman's (the soldier from the previous episode is a good example) and John Henry Irons was free to go and he has now retired the "Captain Luthor" codename that the ship's AI thought he was, time will tell if he'll be on Superman's side. But this episode is about Lois and Clark's investigation on M. Edge, also continuing the character arcs of Jonathan and Jordan Kent.

There's some fair share of great drama in this week's episode, also really good plot development. The 9th episode gave us plenty of answers and ton of fantastic character development, also some great performances from Elizabeth Tulloch and Dylan Walsh. I found it to be an excellent episode, one that will go into by the looks of things... an explosive and incredible 10th episode.

Loyal Subjekts
Prismark1024 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
With Captain Luthor dealt with for now.

Superman and Lois can really get down to the main villain of the first series.

Who is he? What does he really want?

The answer is not easy. Clark and Jordan get sick with the synthetic Kryptonian.

Lois Lane knows that Morgan Edge is the unfriendly face of capitalism. He has come to Smallville to ruin it.

The town has X-Kryptonite ushered in with the baby Kal-El. Edge needs it.

Some people in Smallville want to improve themselves and Edge knows that his experiments with X-Kryptonite will do that.

With a demented super army being built. Morgan Edge reveals himself as a fellow Kryptonian.

A fun episode that moves the season arc forward. From now on I expect the sparks to fly.

Heh, Subjekts...
wetmars15 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Lois has lately been poured on every single detail about Edge and his company. Edge has been experimenting on the first patient to be something unnatural, not human. Again, I am loving Sara's dad, even more. He's supporting her. Well, personality crisis. Yikes. Clark senses extreme danger over Mexico. He arrives and saves the day. AWESOME! It seems like Superman is having struggles. He's not used to any shotgun blasts. Or not! I love their priceless reaction when they know they're screwed, lol. Lois meets up with Edge during an important special meeting. The members of the meeting exit the room. Discussion time. Kryptonite consciousness in human beings, yikes. LOL, Jordan is developing super-sneeze as in what I call. The "ice blow". Huh, so Jordan is getting sickness from Clark's infection by the bio-weapon that was used on him. The General comes to pay a visit. He says that his guys are working on it. They better will! Oh god, Lana is being interrogated by Edge. Poor her. She has kids. Jordan's condition is getting real worse. God damn, I never knew this was probably the type of crazy thing in the comics. Dude just made a lamp completely frozen! Lois has a tough relationship with her dad, daddy issues. Superman and Jordan arrive at the Fortress of Solitude. Respiratory issues within kryptonite inside his lungs. Clark has to burn out the Kryptonite out of Jordan's respiratory system or it could instantly freeze. That is utterly terrifying. Jonathan questions General Sam why is he developing these bio-weapons. He responds just in case of any worst-case scenario. Project-7734, perhaps? Great dialogue here. Seems like the patient senses something. (( Literally cannot her name in IMDB so excuse me. )) Leslie informs Edge that Superman's powers have been growing weaker. Jordan is getting better. The Patient and someone else have entered the house, holy sh**! They attempt to grab the signal for Superman but fails.

They attempt to grab the signal for Superman but fails. General Sam saves the day using biochemical weapons. Well done, chap until he is knocked out. Clark senses real danger. Aw crap. Sara's dad is one of them. Superman comes to save the day, and they retreat. The Military has arrived at the Kent Farm investigating the incident. Some wholesome dialogue between Sam and Lois. It's hard being a father even though I'm not one, but I can't imagine the struggles of being there and supporting your children. Lana realized that her husband is one of Edge's experimental patients. Oh, every form of Kryptonite has been underground since Clark first landed on Earth. Big mistake. We get another action scene between him and Edge. Edge flies and reveals that he is... GOD DAMN CLARK'S BROTHER. MIND-BLOWN! Phenomenal plot twist, I did not see that coming.

Thoughts?

Just your typical casual character development, dialogue, crazy action.

Didn't like the twist here. I'm sick of the same stuff. They always need to bring someone from Krypton to make the fight even with Superman .

Lunch bags..
eddietam15 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
(At around 4 minutes into the film) You know this super family is different because Clark Kent didn't fold the insulated brown paper bag with the ends like an accordion like how most people do. These bags have circular magnetic snaps on the outside to close it, however the boys as seen in this scene are struggling with how to close them. Jordan gives up trying to close it and just slides the whole thing into his backpack. You can tell his brother, Johnathon is the street smart one when he gave up, and just folded it as best he could before putting it in his bag. If the manufacturer sponsored this episode to feature the bags, they might be thankful that it's in it, but must be a little disappointed that they didn't use it like it was designed. Oh well..
