Joe Sharkey, famed NYT journalist was a passenger on executive jet that collided mid-air with Gol Transportes Aéreos Flight 1907. The sad irony is that all crew and passengers on Flight 1907 perished, but everyone on the executive jet (I think only 7 passengers) managed to survive with no major damage to the precious jet. The pilots were able to secure legal representation from the former Justice Minister Jose Carlos Dias, which is top shelf legal representation big time.
Some of the families of the deceased thought it was unjust a smaller plane could make an emergency landing whereas a whole larger aircraft with 154 people died in the Amazon. Perhaps class issues play a role in the tragedy here, with the wealthy class flying on an executive jet getting through life unscathed?
