Rollercoaster of a ride
safenoe5 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Season 5 picks up on the shortened season 4, and wow, what a wide the season opener is that's for sure. Anyway, it's a sweep of history (well 2020 anyway) where we the pandemic plays out, along with Zoom, George Floyd, the 2020 election and the capitol riots. The departures of Delroy Lindo and Cush Jumbo were said but hopefully they can return please. The scenes of Cush were actually filmed in London.

Not sure I love how quickly they ran through everything, but they wanted to cover a lot and they certainly did.

Too political, but still good TV. Losing Lucca is a big loss.

Meltdown

Warning: Spoilers
This episode (5/1) is the absolute opposite of what this show used to be. It is now an unintelligent, jumbled, drudging, spiritless mumbo-jumbo. No quick wit, no humor, nothing, although both Karl Marx and Jesus are here to entertain us with their clever cerebrations. Dramaturgy gone to sewers. I have really no idea who is this meant for and why on earth they killed such a captivating show. I bet Scott Free is no more part of this monstrosity of a show. If they are, then the world's gone crazy. Paradigm shift? Yes, you can name it that. One star.

2 months later: I stand corrected. The subsequent episodes proved me wrong. The show continued in good old way, so 8 stars.

So many developed issues, this was an episode on a high speed... clever, funny, exciting, it's a pleasure to watch how the creators can invent themselves again and again. So good the good are back!

Reality capsule of a paradigm shift.

Those who resist change and truth will undoubtedly hate this episode. I see it as a foundation of how the law will be shaped by 2020. This show fears no dragons.

Cathartic and Good Transition

Warning: Spoilers
I've loved seeing how this show has changed from a good but fairly typical law show to something original, quirky, experimental, bold. Its as if the characters' occasional drive to say "screw it" is bleeding into the writing and production.

This episode was a great way to bring everyone back on to the same page while giving homage to lives lost and the hearts broken in 2020. The title has that wry and surprising humor I've come to look for and perfectly sets up the structure pf the episode.

I'm binging this after the fact, so my experience is different from those who watched it when it originally aired. But I've appreciated the catharsis it's provided for reflection on 2020.

Also, I'm sorry for the characters lost but will be looking for the actors elsewhere.
