It's unbelievable that this is the first time this history is being told. It makes you wonder about all of the other magnificent historical episodes we don't know about. This documentary is a real archeological work. Anyone who likes real journalism- style documentaries that try to get the "real" story, and anyone who is into music or just learning brand new things, will appreciate this film. There's so much here. Still shocked it took 50+ years to add this to the Canon.

The 60's: Great Music & Poster Art

What a wonderful stab from the past about the amazing but short lived Denver Family Dog. Wonderful stories about groups that played the venue like Canned Heat, The Doors and Janis as well as the best poster artists of all time. Particularly interesting were the clashes between the local cops & the club owners and managers which ultimately shut the place down less than a year after it first opened in 1967.
Totally satisfying surprise of a documentary

I learned more from this documentary about my own city than anywhere else regarding this utterly fascinating and cool episode of history. There is nothing retread here, which I kind of couldn't believe because the story is so interesting and has so much going on (Police! Music! Drugs! Psychedelia! Art!). Love the multiple thread lines running through the movie. So many stories and people who were there... I recommend this to anyone who likes music, art, the 1960s, Denver and Colorado (though certainly not limited to that) and how societies/cultures sometimes just smash into each other. Really great surprise here. Sent it to quite a few people who were also shocked they didn't know any of this.
