Early Danish Film

Czar Nikolai II's Ankomst til Helsinger (1902)

Early film from Danish director Peter Elfelt is pretty much like the stuff you'd expect to see from Edison and other American studios. There's really no plot here but instead just a quick (51-second) clip of a part of history that most have forgotten. We see the Russian czar Nicholas II visiting his grandfather, King Christian IX, and that's pretty much it. I'm sure history buffs or fans of these early cinema experiences are going to get the most entertainment out of this thing. Again, there's no story to think of but I always enjoy watching these films simply because they give you a good idea of how things were back in the day. As I've said before, you can watch a movie made in 2010 that tries to take place in 1901 but if you really want to see actual footage from 1901 then these films are the best way to do it.
