Tony is busy trying to sort out his tax, when he gets a call from Alex, to assist with that latest case. A serial killer is targeting young, homeless men, and killing them in a bizarre, ritualistic fashion. Always at the back of Tony's mind, escaped killer Michael.
Two things at play here, unless Michael is responsible for the death of the young men.
It's another murky story of murder and torture, and it's a particularly good one.
John Hopkins is a good stand in, and it changes things up a little, Tony always having bad a female 'boss,' always good to see John Hopkins pre Midsomer Murders. They did a good job making him interesting and smart, he's no fool.
I just adored the scenes between Tony and Alex, as a duo they truly developed as the series went on, not sure I could ever see the pair hitting it off, she has however exposed his social issues.
Keen to see more from the excellent Mary Jo Randle.
Great start to the finale.
9/10.
