2 thumbs up!
svigue52510 October 2011
I really enjoyed the movie in its entirety. It was definitely a thriller, yet comical. It definitely had its edge of the seat moments. I thought it was creative and tastefully done. Tracy Teague's performance was fabulous. I would definitely recommend this movie to friends and family. I had no idea what the budget was $500 until the release, but i would have guessed it was a lot more. The cast was amazing and the storyline was excellent. The suspense alone had me on the edge of my seat. The cast worked very well together and it showed in the movie. I give the cast and the movie2 thumbs up. It was a job well done.

Incredibly bad
Catharina_Sweden4 March 2017
This was one of the worst movies I have ever seen. At first I thought it had to be a student production of some kind, or a horror-comedy, supposed to be a parody. But it was not supposed to be either. It was supposed to be a "real" horror movie on the haunted house theme, and I find it incredible that professional movie-makers can make such a flop of this theme NOW, in the 2010:s??! This would have been a bad and clumsy horror movie already in the 1930:s.

I do not even know where to start. EVERYTHING was amateurish: the script, the acting, the directing, the special effects... There were no dramaturgy at all. Even the real people who were not supposed to be ghosts, looked, talked and moved like zombies. ALL of them looked out of place. The ghosts, on the other hand, did not look like ghosts but like real people, there was nothing other-wordly about them at all, and they were totally un-scary. The horror music did not scare either, because it was too loud, blatant and obvious. Total flop, there is nothing redeeming here at all.

Great Premise, Very Entertaining, in the style similar to "The Shining"
tbull_686 October 2011
This entertaining horror movie had a very "The Shining" like style, but with a total different premise and unique story line. The interactions between Michael (Regen Wilson) and Jim Shoemaker (Mick McGuire) were quite awesomely done and were the hit of the movie! Regen Wilson's portrayal of Michael additionally added a critical element of chemistry to the movie over all. Mick "Two Birds/One Stone" McGuire's lines in the movie were unforgettable and sure to be repeated by those who have seen the movie. Overall, the cast did well, and the story kept you waiting in anticipation to what was going to happen next. I will not get into the other characters' individual analysis, as I do not want to give away too much of the plot, but the haunters were definitely both intriguing and creepy! ~Dave

My Review Of "The Haunting Of Pearson Place"
ASouthernHorrorFan6 May 2013
"The Haunting Of Pearson Place" is a paranormal horror film directed by Michael Merino which stars Joe Estevez, Suzi Lorraine, Ken Arnold, Tracy Teague, Regen Wilson, Julie Price, Mick McGuire and Kelley Slagle. The film follows a yuppie couple from the city who set out to turn an old historical property into a quaint bed & breakfast. Being that this is a supernatural/psychological horror story-where the dead have their own plans for the place, and anyone who ventures into the home- things go terrifyingly wrong.

Ghost stories are a staple in horror, and even with the new fascination with found-footage stories, one can never really tire of a good movie with bad ghosts. "The Haunting Of Pearson Place" does not disappoint in that aspect. It is a mature, serious film about hauntings that is, both smart, and dark. It stays within the traditional-vein of paranormal storytelling, much like "Darkness", and the very classic "The House Where Evil Dwells". There is no overexposed use of gimmicks or novelty stylizing in this movie- that is really a major plus. Most horror films become boring or redundant when relying on the latest fades in genre horror films, but the standard-contemporary ghost story is timeless. Which is what "The Haunting Of Pearson Place" is, a timeless ghost story that is chilling, and entertaining.

The story is a slow-burn, evenly paced one that never really lulls into that place of "boring", like some films do in-between the highs. It stays at a steady pace of intense, tragic melodrama, that intertwines the character building moments with the dark, thrilling moments of the paranormal. The cast is believable, and the story is thoroughly well thought out. I did have a gripe with the main characters of Steve and Gwen, nothing really to do with the acting or their part in the plot- line, it mostly has to do with the fact that this couple should have saved their money they spent on this property, and invested in marriage counseling! I just wanted to slap them both! But hey -we all no the dead do love a nice, juicy, negative vibe-right! These people where tragically destined to horrors way before they stepped into the Pearson Place! That is for sure!

The bottom line is this-"The Haunting Of Pearson Place" is a classic chilling ghost story, filled with mean spirits-dark atmosphere and mature storytelling. It was well acted and directed with scary moments coming in at the perfect suspenseful moments. This film is a traditional ghost story that I thoroughly enjoyed. The characters are tragic, the ghosts- creepy, and the atmosphere is truly haunting.

WELL DONE! supernatural thriller without a huge budget!
billsetype9 October 2011
I simply LOVED this Movie.

It was moody and very well Acted. Tracy Teague did a phenomenal job, and Ken, Regan and Julie were also spot on per their Roles. Last but certainly not least, it is obvious that Joe Estevez has acting 'genes' that run across his family. His brother has nothing on him for the role he portrayed in 'Haunting'! He was amazing.

The screenplay was tight (some of the tag lines.. well.. I won't forget them anytime soon!)... it had humor interspersed with some cutting edge sarcasm and genuine panic. Michael's direction was very intriguing. Its obvious that he is a student of the business and has taken some real cues from some masters (Hitchcock really comes to mind). Some very creative camera panning, angles and draw backs..

All in all, I think this movie was really good and deserves a decent distribution. I would go pay $10 at the big theater to see it! Bill Hocking

Intelligent Entertainment at its Best
carmer1241626 January 2012
The Haunting of Pearson Place is a film for the intelligent and fun loving film buff...this film reminds me of The Shining and The Others but with a bit more humor. A great movie with a wonderful cast. The Direction and camera work are just spot on. Joe Estevez shines as Bob. His creepy and askew character just makes you want to wash up. Ken Arnold was a solid anchor that kept the audience wondering what might happen next. Suzi Lorraine, although a bit under used (To be fair I'm a big Suzi Lorraine fan and she should be in every frame) is wild as the haunting Founder. Nadia Williams plays Suzi's sister (The Head Nurse) and she's wrenching yet beautiful. Mick McGuire is awesome as Jim, Tracy Teague is lovely, and so believable as the nagging wife. Kelley Slagle crept me out, her voice and inflections were just spine tingling. And last but far form least the out of this world Regen Wilson steals the show. This is a Hollywood film, on a diet budget. Michael Merino is someone to be watched. I can't wait to see what he comes up with next. I highly recommend this film if you enjoy Super-natural, Horror films...not long on gore, but long on smarts.

Solid Freaky Film
kurtzsogood27 January 2012
The other night I was invited to the private screening of The Haunting of Pearson place, and was asked to please review the movie on IMDb by the DIrector. I've never written a review, so here goes nothing as they say!

I really like the film, it wasn't as bloody or gory as I was hoping (I'm a big fan of the SAW series) but over all the film was rock solid. I also like a little more TnA...but that's just me...Horror films generally mean, bad acting and some nudity. This film had great acting, and the story was real solid. The actors were also a bit older than you'd see in horror movies...they were in their 30's and up. But I recommend the film because its freaky, weird and funny.

It was also beautifully shot, and as a hobby photographer I was really impressed with it's composition and style. The D/P and Director seem to work really well together.

Over all a really solid film, with less kills and nudity than a horror film, but smart and it makes you think about what's going to happen rather than showing you.

Low budget but punches above its weight
Jacobsen7075 October 2011
For someone who's not a horror fan, I still found this film to be entertaining. It certainly punches way above its weight for a film made with a very, very modest budget. To that end, the technical aspects of the film from start to finish – the lighting, set design, sound, effects, film quality, etc. – are all very "normal" in light of much bigger budget flicks. Despite some difficult plot holes and twists, there are some smart elements in the story that probably could have been exploited a bit more and the set almost functions as its own character as should be the case with a horror film (or, perhaps, a not-so-gory thriller). A few good gotcha moments and a few memorable lines and laughs. Decent acting with a script that's a bit choppy and kudos to Ken Arnold as a solid central player.

Freaked me out!!!
johnnygrant0076 July 2013
I was given this film by a friend who thought I might like it and man was he right! Not only was THE HAUNTING of PEARSON PLACE well acted, well written and well Directed it was well shot and well edited. It burned slowly and diliberately. I wasn't expecting much from an Indie film but what I got was so awesome and freaky (in a normal cool way, not a weird one) that I ended up watching the movie a second time that night. And on the second viewing I caught all the clues that were so clearly there the first time. We've become so used to being SPOON FED movies now a days that its great to actually watch a film that makes you think and at the same time forget you're watching a movie. The actors were great, Regen Wilson is going to be huge someday, he reminds me of Jack Nicolson and Tracy Teague, Ken Arnold and Suzi Lorraine were dead perfect. Joe Estevez was sooooo creepy as the landlord that I laughed nervously every time he came on screen. The Guy was freeeeeaaakkkky. This movie Freakeeeed me out and Michael Merino knows exactly when to turn the heat up or let you slowly boil like a frog in hot water, before you know it...it's over. 10 stars simply because it was a low budget Indie film that I enjoyed more than the latest Hollywood poop out there. Watch this film!!!

Future Cult Classic
Silverscrnwriter11 October 2011
The Haunting at Pearson Place is superbly acted, directed and really, really….funny. It's smart horror film that knows how to be truly entertaining by not taking itself too seriously. Regen Wilson is a master with reactions – one annoyed glance from him and the audience was in stitches. Ken Arnold and Tracey Teague were also excellent as the beleaguered couple under attack by the strange creatures inhabiting Pearson Place. Joe Estevez was also a riot as the constantly underfoot interloper (he was either a realtor or the caretaker – I can't remember which, but he was a delightful and creepy pain in the ass). A funny, creepy, thoroughly entertaining film that will not only hold up under multiple viewings but has great potential to become a cult classic.

Two Birds, One stone and a brain freak!
goldfinch1241627 August 2012
Warning: Spoilers
I caught this film last week at the WMIFF International film festival in Washington, DC. And I can say that I was expecting your run of the mill slasher flick. You know, lots of blood, guts, screaming half naked girls and some big guy running around trying to hack his way through each and everyone of them.

What I got was a film that asked you (the viewer) to do something we don't are often expected to when we go to the movies...THINK and follow an actual story with a plot and characters that develop in time. WOW what a concept, a film that actually asks you to think and follow a story. It was like enjoying a well cooked meal. Don't get me wrong I like fast food (half-naked girls running about) as much as the next guy. But I also love a really satisfying meal. You know something that leaves you feeling well nourished and pleasantly full. Not stuffed but full and very satisfied.

Michael Merino (The Director-Writer-Producer) and his crew did an excellent job with this film. The score (by Patrick Morganelli) is so haunting and beautiful I wanted the soundtrack for my home. The D/P (Tom Benca) painted the screen with such beautiful shots I forgot is was what they consider a "Lower budget" movie. And the location, well the location was amazing, what a find there!

The acting was top of the charts awesome. Ken Arnold who plays Steven (the lead male) is as solid as any actor in Hollywood. He has a great leading man authority to him. Regen Wilson kills as Michael. You just can't take your eyes off of him. Tracy Teague and Julie Price are so beautiful and equally strong as the wives of Arnold and Wilson.

Joe Estevez (Charlie Sheens Uncle...really!) was just great, I wish he had been in every scene, he's just an awesome actor and every time he came on the screen I smiled knowing something bad was about to happen. Scream Queen Suzi Lorraine is as sexy and mean as ever. She was the main reason I went to the screening, I'v e been a fan for years. Another actor Mick McGuire who plays the County Inspector was so bizarre and weird that I actually sought out one of the Producers after the screening to ask point blank if he was "touched" and I was told he's one of the brightest guys you'll ever meet. HE, was out there, and in a really great way. Finally the girl in the bath played by Nadia Williams was just sultry and taunting.

I highly suggest you get a copy of this film, its a great rainy night, sit on the couch with your G/F...eat some pop corn and enjoy kind of date. It's not to bloody (hardly) the language is fairly clean, nobody is being tortured or abused and the nude factor is minimal and it makes sense when it happens.

I was going to rate the movie 8 out of 10, but since I was soooo surprised by the film and saw it's budget was a mere 500K. Well, HOLLYWIERD better take notice, because these guys are coming for you. So 2 extra stars, what the heck. BUY THIS MOVIE, its awesome. Its on sale at AMAZON.

good film!
collinsc6711 October 2011
Good movie with a well developed story line. Not too gory, it did not rely on cheap thrills but rather it played upon the imagination of the audience using creative imaging and story content. They got me with the interesting and believable characters and held me with twists and turns. Suspenseful moments were well balanced with unexpected moments of comedy. I enjoyed watching the movie, my mind was racing to figure out the puzzle of Pearson's place before the credits rolled. I particularly liked the ending, glad to see it was not too predictable. The cinematography, acting and makeup were all great.

Congrats to the cast and crew!

The Creep Factor Rocks!
erikaschoenke3 September 2012
I saw this movie at the HORRORFIND 2012 festival last weekend in Gettysburg, PA. I went out the next morning and purchased a copy from the filmmakers who happened to be there.

The Director Michael Merino signed it for me and it turns out he also won for BEST DIRECTOR of the festival! How cool is that? The lead actress Tracy Teague won for BEST ACTRESS as well, so two awards for a great movie.

What makes this movie so good is that has an actual story and plot. WOW how sad is it when that's considered a rare thing. This movie asks that you think and go along on a journey, a really creepy and at times funny one.

I strongly suggest you see this film if you like movies along the lines of THE WOMAN in BLACK, THE OTHERS and even THE SHINING. In time (once this film finds its footing) it'll be a classic INDIE scary movie.

I'm giving it 8 stars for a great film and 1 more because the Director was such a nice guy! Keep up the great work guys.

Great Job
mserv6 October 2011
I must start with a disclaimer.. I was an executive producer for the MCM Film 502. However, not involved in this film, I must say that this is the reason I helped in producing Michael Merino's earlier film.

That out of the way, The Haunting of Pearson Place, came in well below the budget of other independent horror thrillers, and tuned out to be very good. Better than a number that have made it to the big screen. I attended the private screening and was pleasantly entertained. The film gives you just enough blood, violence, and suspense to make its comparison to the genera without going over the top. In other words it should have a broader appeal to a wider market.

The story line flows and the acting is very good, keeping an audience engaged from the start. But, the hidden diamond for the film is the subtle humor that runs throughout. This especially during the interaction between the charters of Jim Shoemaker and Michael. Sorry, no spoiler you need to see it.

Everyone associated with the film should be happy, and proud it was a job well done.

The dead certainly do not leave Pearson Place
regdyer-752-58959816 August 2012
Warning: Spoilers
The viewing of the DVD release of THE HAUNTING OF PEARSON PLACE fulfilled high expectations which had developed over several months as a result of reading favourable comments as the production had developed.

The creepy atmosphere is set within a few seconds during the opening credit sequence and is subsequently built up in a gradual fashion as the process of the examination of the nooks and crannies of the extensive, dilapidated old building is carried out. Fleeting glimpses of apparitions and flashback sequences contribute to the generation and air of mystery. The building seems to develop a personality of its own. The building selection in this instance proves to be a perfect one and the location scout has performed a first class job in finding this particular one.

I was particularly impressed with the character construction and background story which revealed both the strong and weak points of the personalities involved through a mixture of descriptions during dialogue and the viewers own perception in the initial scenes. Events unfold to reveal the emergence of doubts and uncertainty which undermine the assumed strengths of the abilities of the characters and the maintenance of relationships with each other as they struggle through a series of events and circumstances to separate reality from imagination. All four lead performers - Ken Arnold, Julie Price, Regen Wilson and Tracy Teague - manage to convey the mounting strain on the relationships in a highly commendable manner and reveal that they have a clear appreciation of the requirements of writer and director Michael Merino. This was the first time that I had viewed the work of any of these four fine actors and I was very favourably impressed. I will certainly be looking out for more films featuring Regen Wilson who was outstanding.

In a film such as this it is obviously necessary for many scenes to be on the dark side and this is where I must compliment the crew members responsible for the lighting and effects. Even in the scenes mainly lit by lamp and fire, the main elements of room setting and characters' faces were visible thanks to good technique and effective positioning of incidental lighting.

I was initially attracted to the production of this film when I noted that the cast list included Joe Estevez and Suzi Lorraine - a very accomplished and experienced duo who can be depended upon to produce the goods as required. Joe in the role of caretaker captures the attention with his combination of well timed glances, verbal asides and expressions coupled with a tinge of humour whenever he mysteriously appears in a scene before vanishing as quickly as he arrived. Suzi's appearances are not frequent but when she does emerge into a scene it is suddenly and always with maximum impact. She really knows how to make the sparks fly as she demonstrates an ability to make the most effective and dramatic use of screen time.

The successful result of this film arises from a combination of an accomplished cast, excellent storyline and its development, intelligent directing and a very suitable structure called Pearson Place. The conclusion certainly provides scope for a welcome sequel!

A moody, home-grown, twisted ghost story!
Mouth045 October 2011
Warning: Spoilers
The Haunting of Pearson Place is a gorgeous looking film! For an independent flick, it's absolutely state of the art, taking advantage of a great location, great talent, great FX, and utilizing cameras and sound that really set the atmosphere and tone of the film. In a nutshell, the story revolves around a couple moving out to the boonies to renovate an investment property... turns out they got more than they bargained for in the form of ghosts and demons plaguing their minds. There are some stand out performances in the cast from Mick McGuire, Regen Wilson, Ken Arnold, Joe Estevez, Tracy Teague, Julie Price, Kelley Slagle, and Nadia Williams. Each actor really brought an extra charisma to their characters which was needed to keep the story moving along- director Mike Merino definitely found the right cast for his movie! I had a lot of fun watching Pearson Place, and my only critique of the film would have to be the pacing. There were moments of dialogue that seemed to go on a bit too long (standing around in the foyer for solid minutes), or moments of tension that were not executed as well as they could have been (watching a hand crawl out from under a bed for what felt like forever). With that said, there's a vast majority of moments that did their job well and gave me a solid scare. Overall I had a fun time with this and would recommend it for those who love a moody, home-grown, and twisted ghost story!

Loved it!
artguy197527 January 2012
I was at the private screening in Washington, DC for The Haunting of Pearson Place last evening and I have to say I don't recall the last time I had so much fun at the movies! Hollywood take notes...these filmmakers have you in their sights!

The Direction, story, acting and photography were excellent. As an artist ( I work in oils) I particularly loved the camera work. Tom Benca the D/P has a fantastic eye, and his skills are second to none. I've seen Hollywood films that look like they were shot by a group of blind monkeys working in the dark...this film is not the case. It's beautiful, and I loved it!

If and when this film goes into wide release, rent it, buy it, see it...you will not be disappointed! I LOVED IT...smart, scary and sizzling.

Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoyed the movie. It was definitely a thriller, in my opinion, paired with a bit of cheeky humor. It definitely had its intense moments that had me flinching and jumpy. I thought the story was creative and well written and the injection of humor was a clever touch. Tracy Teague's performance was outstanding. I loved her sassy and punchy character and thought it was very fitting for the overall tone of the movie. Was a fan of her previous release, Respire, so was looking forward to seeing her in this. Mick McGuire's character definitely had that creepy factor. But I also found myself giggling with his every appearance. Overall, I thought the production was well done and the cast collectively succeeded in evoking that eerie "haunted house" feel.

Intelligent and entertaining
philipshayneleach23 May 2015
The Haunting of Pearson Place is one of those movies that makes you remember why we go to the movie theater. This movie was scary, funny and so much fun that I didn't want it to end.

The cast was pretty awesome, Regen Wilson just chews up the scenery and you can't take your eyes off Julie Price...they both have "Star" written all over them. Ken Arnold and Tracy Teague were strong and so real that I felt like I knew these people...and I think I just might have a few friends that are them.

Joe Estevez (Yes, Charlie Sheens Uncle) was wonderful (and is sinfully under-rated) as Bob the care-taker. He really drew me in. A real creep show that guy. And last but far from least, Scream Queen Suzi Lorraine was the topping to an already well iced cake...she was great as always.

One thing that really comes across is the beauty of the film. For a Horror film its just so well shot, at times it feels as if you're in a painting. The Haunting of Pearson Place is well acted, directed and wonderfully shot. Frankly, if most "horror" films (This one's classified as a "supernatural thriller/horror, with comedic elements") were more like Pearson Place I would watch more of them. A lot more of them. And I should note, that as a certified fan of "Arthouse" films, I wasn't expecting much from the film when I was invited to watch it by a friend. To my surprise I was treated to a well crafted film. Kudos to all.

7.5 Stars for a well crafted film, and an additional star for not taking the cheap and easy way out like so many films. 8.5 stars. (rounded up)

The story and direction were great, Michael Merino is a solid writer and crafted director. I look forward to seeing what he comes up with next.

Warning: Spoilers
I saw this movie and wouldn't have guessed it was 500k budget movie, I was impressed with the scene setting, sound, lighting and effects. It really lended to the fear factor of the movie. It was a thriller vs. gore and that's what I like, I want to be on the edge of my seat. There were well timed comedic moments that fit into the intensity of a scary movie. Definite chemistry between the actors, and even though the leading actress is beautiful, she doesn't let it distract you from the story. In the tradition of scary movies there were some topless moments and a pretty lady walking into a dark basement despite the audiences better judgement. Like Agatha Christie's ten little Indian's, you care about the characters, and are left wondering who will survive. Recommended date, or group of friends movie.

Creepers, Creepers Everywhere!
Masterofdisaster077827 January 2012
I saw this movie the other night at a private screening in Washington, DC... (Great theater by the way) and I have to say I was soooo impressed by this film.

The acting was tight, the story weaved like an old yarn should, the direction was really well done and the camera work was beautiful. I just loved my film going experience. I wish more movies were like this one. Smart, creepy, funny and bizarre.

Mick McGuire as Jim Shoemaker was so creepy, but Joe Estevez really freaked me out. Martin Sheen, is Joe's older brother, and you can see the acting genes flow in that family like water in a stream...Joe was the best. Suzi Lorraine the B-movie Scream Queen played The Founder. She was off putting and really evil. Nadia Williams plays Suzi's sister "The Head Nurse" and those two ladies should have a movie on their own. My God, Creepers, Creepers Everywhere!!

The Director Michael Merino said the film will be in wide release on VOD, I-Tunes, Amazon and Cable by May 2012...I highly suggest you watch this movie, its not to violent with little too no gore. And just enough nudity to satisfy the real creepers of this world.

Well Done MCMFILMS.

The Haunting of Pearson Place will leave you thrilled, chilled and your funny bone grilled.
william400220037 October 2011
See there's this new species out there. A hybrid. Horror-comedy they call it. You watch the movie, you get scared, you laugh a little here and there. It's catching on. I highly recommend it.

Director Michael Merino's The Haunting of Pearson Place fits the bill. Scary here, funny there. Lot's going on. Hell's a popping'. See it all centers on a yuppie couple who want to buy an old house and turn it into a bed and breakfast (don't they always?). Gwen and Steven (Tracy Teague, as good here as she was in Respire, and always excellent Ken Arnold) have a strained marriage and they figger somehow this will save it.

Seems like these yuppie couples never listen to the locals, for example the likes of store owner Carol (effectively scary Kelly Slagle) who suggests the place has a lot of negative energy, and they just might want to reconsider being proprietors of a bed and breakfast. Seems like the house once served as a hospice for World War I soldiers who did not die there in a pleasant manner. From there it gets really weird. Where's Rod Serling?

Throw in another, more annoying couple, Catherine and Michael (Aussie actress Julie Price and why-isn't-he-famous Regan Wilson), and stir, and you get a recipe that stinks to high heaven when Gwen gets reminded of her husband Steven's questionable history with Catherine. We see Teague, as Gwen, throw her delicious bitchiness around like a hatchet.

If that wasn't bad enough, weirdo real estate agent (Joe Estevez, Charlie Sheen's uncle) pops in and out of thin air every so often to harass Steven, and talks to folks who ain't there. Hmmm. We see a wacked-out chick in a bathtub, mannequins that talk, a hand coming from under the bed and such like. All punctuated by laughs hither and yon. Funniest of all is inspector from the county, Jim Shoemaker (the excellent Mick McGuire), who has a too-close moment with Michael that will have you ROTFL.

The Haunting of Pearson Place will leave you thrilled, chilled and your funny bone grilled.

The Beautiful Horror
Kandykanegirl21226 January 2012
This movie was not a blood bath, or overtly violent. And thats a GREAT thing!

As a woman it's nice to see a film that takes womens points of views into mind. It was beautifully shot, well directed and the acting was superb. It had something known as dialogue...yes actual words were spoken and a story being told. Not just a bunch of naked girls running about covered in blood, and overly moronic characters.

The haunting of Pearson Place It is a totally engaging story and asks that the viewer think. When was the last time you were asked to do that? And its entertaining...the best of both worlds, with humor to match...

I loved it, its a BEAUTIFUL HORROR.

Suspenseful & Shocking With a Sense of Humor
nevinmartell-178-3230875 October 2011
Warning: Spoilers
If you're looking for a horror film that will make you bite your nails, cover your eyes and occasionally chuckle, then look no further. The Haunting of Pearson Place is a tautly drawn thriller flick with just enough jokes thrown in to keep you laughing in between sharply drawing your breath and screaming. Joe Estevez gives a stellar performance as a quirky, unsettling real estate agent, while Suzi Lorraine vamps it up as a sexy ghost bent on vengeance. Mick McGuire also deserves recognition for his unsettling portrayal of an eerie county inspector who may be more than he appears. Though the dialog drags at times, the film mostly zips along, propelled by a series of hallucinations (or are they?) and ghostly encounters. Despite the film's minuscule budget, the production value is incredibly high. This polish-on-a-penny aesthetic elevates it beyond most B-movies and lends it a more serious air. It's definitely worth tracking down and checking out, so get to it.

Crisp, Raw and Freaky!

I was fortunate to be at a private viewing in a wonderful theater for the feature film, The Haunting of Pearson Place last evening. And I for one, am a huge fan of this movie. Wow, well done to all the cast and crew.

It's Crisp, Raw and Freaky. And I loved it! I read a few of the positive reviews on the page and agree with them all. I also read the "critic review" and I must say that "critic" is so far off base that I question his or her's pedigree.

The Haunting of Pearson Place is a linear story that is well acted, directed and wonderfully shot. Frankly, if most "horror" films (This one is classified as a Supernatural thriller/Horror, with comedic elements) were like Pearson Place I would watch more of them. A lot more of them.

As a fan of "Arthouse" films, I wasn't expecting much from the film when I was invited along by a friend, and to my surprise I was treated to a well crafted film. Kudos to all.
